So I was sitting at dinner today with a group of people at college and there's this girl at the table we'll call Emily.
And so some other guy at the table starts talking about how he explained to Emily what masturbation was earlier that day.
As in, she didn't know what masturbation was (female or male) prior to that. A 19 year old girl. And she apparantly grew up in the US and went to public school and everything.
Am I the only one that finds this outrageous?

Not outrageous. In military i met a girl who left a tampon inside herself for 3 months and it got infected and she had to have surgery. Some people are just fucked up (ps, was she asian? Because if your girl was asian we can draw all sorts of fantastic conclusions)

I don't think it's THAT weird. I can recall many times when I didn't know something that other people considered obvious, and the simple answer why was because everyone was so convinced everyone knew that nobody talked about it.
You may think that for example masturbation is mentioned so often in popular media etc that there is no way of not knowing about it, but then again they never talk about using your hands to rub your crotch to induce pleasure, its always subtle hints and slang, which to anyone why doesn't know could mean anything, like an inside joke.
If I didn't know about masturbation and someone on TV said something about rubbing their crotch, I'd probably just think it were a rapper.
