So I see a TON of people using Procaster to stream in ULTRA high quality. Can some people help me with some of the settings they've used to sexify their streams? I have a beastly computer, but I can't quite seem to get the settings just right.

Any help people can give would be amazing!

First of all you gotta use the game mode to stream instead of screen. Second, go to the video settings and set your video bitrate to 450 and audio to 50. That's what I've got and it's as HQ as it gets.

I'm not exactly sure what resolution mine is on, can't check right now but make sure your channel aspect ratio is on widescreen.

These are the settings I use:

Which produces this quality:

http://www.livestream.com/discofever/video?clipId=pla_f7b9652f-65b7-41d9-a72b-e19e7bcc5bcd

You can up the resolution to as much as your PC can handle to get an even better picture.

this game is a fucking jokie

Yea I think Day plays the SC in windowed mode or something - game mode is best

Yeah, windowed mode.

Also - you might want to consider, if you have a beastly computer, when you spectate and/or analyze (basically whenever you cast unless it's yourself playing live), turning up the detail settings, makes for a better viewing experience along with the switch to game mode and full screen as previously suggested.

If you go fullscreen without switching to game mode it'll flicker like mad by the way.

Edit: livestream is most comfortable in 16: 9 so try to use that aspect.

The Ultra High quality is going to be limited by your internet and bandwidth probably.

Go as high as you can in terms of resolution without destroying your computer. 16 resolution is best, to change you channel to that, you'll want to go to your livestream channel's settings, and there's an option somewhere down there if you scroll down to change your channel to 16 aspect ratio. Be warned that if you want to stream some regular Starcraft, you're going to need to go back to 4:3, else your BW stream will end up being smaller than usual.

As for Procaster settings, go to the Video tab under settings. You're going to want to lock your aspect ratio to 16, and to put that value as high as it'll go. If you're crazy, you can try 1680x1050, but your internet will probably implode on you if you do that. I'm not sure what everyone else does, but probably something like 800x450 will be decent. Scale it up if you can though.

As for your bitrate, you can set it basically to something ridiculous like 1000 kbps. I don't think it matters too much. I don't think I'm forgetting anything, so try that first.

You can't set it to 1000 kbps unless you have a paid channel. 500 kbps max even with Procaster. All you get if you set it higher than 1000 is a bunch of emails telling you that "you have exceeded the bitrate limit" and a black screen.

However in the past, the already defined settings like High Quality, HD Quality and stuff down there work. Manual toggling of bitrate is a big no no though.

Unless my stream was just being buggy =/

Have you tried choosing HD Quality from the dropdown menu? I haven't tried it myself personally because my upload speed can't keep up. Livestream limits the video bitrate to 500 for non-premium accounts so it's always going to bottleneck how sexy your stream looks

Procaster works differently. I've sometimes somehow gotten 780 bitrate (watched it in game), and I have a free account. It's kind of weird. Just set to 500 kbps then if you have bad interwebs

And in all my years on the internet, I have never been able to watch more than 10 seconds of any Justin.tv stream before getting a "ALL SLOTS FOR YOUR COUNTRY ARE FULL, FUCK OFF" message.

So, no, don't go there. Please. I'm begging.

Dunno what you guys are talking about. I have a free (verified) livestream account and I was able to stream HD at 1000 kbps. Only problem is my sound keeps cutting out periodically (Probably because my upload speed isn't good enough. It's 4.8 Mbps.. Is that low?). I turned the video bitrate down, but it's still being problematic..

Just select the HD option and make sure the aspect ratio is 16 : 9

If nothing is a problem, here's my suggestion:

Under the video tab in settings:

Encoder = VP6
Output = (Whatever you set your SC2 resolution to be). If you're running SC2 in windows mode, I'd suggest either 1024x768 if your livestream channel is 4:3, or 1366x768 if your livestream channel is 16. If you're using broadcast screen mode, then you'd want to look at the numbers in the top middle and right middle of the procaster recording area, and use those numbers.
Aspect Ratio = Doesn't matter.
Target Frame Rate = 25
Target bitrate = 1000
Keyframe Intervals = Doesn't matter.

I hate to revive old topics, but I'm going through the same stuff right now. My biggest question is what sort of upload speed do you need to be able to run with higher quality streams? I did a speedtest and found that my upload speed is roughly .74mb/s (~757kbps). I figured that if I made sure that my total bitrate (video + audio) was lower than 650kbps than I would be fine, but I can barely pump out 15 frames per second, and it constantly drops to just few frames all the time. I have a quad core (@2.83ghz per core) and 4gb of ram so I'm sure I have enough processing power. I guess I'm just theorizing this incorrectly?

Can some of you guys post what your upload speeds are? All the threads about "settings" is useless if we don't know what sort of upload speeds your running off of.

EDIT: Btw all the research I've done on the encoder seems to return that H.262 is higher quality and lower in size than VP6, and several streaming tutorials I've read say not to even bother with VP6 anymore. Can someone else confirm this?
