Plus it's easier to say adios in a loud bar to a bartender than AMF in my experience anyways. This is my favorite mixed drink. (really I only ever order this, any other time it's basic shit like rum+coke) Usually it's served in a Collins glass and has 50% or more alcohol in it (gin/vodka/rum/etc) splash of lemon lime soda and some blue curocao. Top it off with a lemon, lime or cherry and your tongue is gonna turn blue in a matter of seconds. The great thing about this is that you can barely taste the aftertaste of the alcohol ever unless it's like over 80% in the glass ( It mixes so well). I find most places charge 6-10$ for one of these, and beware of the shiesty places who try to serve it in smaller glasses (that angers me to no end). After about 3 of these you are gonna start getting fucked up and it'll start to taste like windex as well. ![]() btw micro, what kind of beers do you hate the most? Dark ones? Light ones? Thick ones? Sweet/fruity? I've always been fond of St. Pauli Girl, Stella Artois, and Grolsh which are all pretty middle ground or the smoothness and not too strong not too light beers. Negra Modelo Especial is another really good mexican beer. If you like fruity shit I'd recommend hefeweizen with a lemon/orange in it or one of those peach/summer ales from sierra nevada or pyramid.

Also, AMF is for fratboys getting smashed on the weekend, not after just getting off work. Rules of male social drinking: (1) If uncertain, a beer is always safe. I disliked beer for a long time, but the taste does grow on you with experience. Try a wide variety and find out just how much bitterness & carbonation your tongue will tolerate. (2) The more stuff is in it, or the more fruity it is, stay away. Learn to enjoy your booze straight. (3) As a man, your staples in hard liquor are brandy, whiskey, tequila, and vodka. Rum is ok, but is a little on the aromatic side and may get you some funny looks in certain parts of the country. Long Island should be tolerant. (4) Save your hard liquor until the sun is below the horizon. It's just dumb getting shitfaced that early in the day.

If you're a fan of coffee, for example, you might enjoy Black/White Russians: Black Russian: 1 3/4 oz. vodka 3/4 oz. coffee liqueur White Russian: As per Black Russian, but in a larger glass topped off with cream. Sour/citric tastes appeal? Perhaps a whiskey or amaretto sour (the amaretto one is a more of a sweet and sour kind of drink): Whiskey/Amaretto Sour: 1 1/4 oz. whiskey/Amaretto 1 1/4 oz. sour mix (typically a premix of lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white, though can also be done with just lemon juice and sugar) served shaken in an old fashioned glass, garnished with a maraschino cherry More into bitter/herbal tastes? Drinks like gin and tonic, dry gin martinis and absinthes are options here. Dry Martini: 2 1/4 oz. gin (or vodka, but the taste ends up completely different, less bitter and herbal if vodka is used) 1/4 oz. white vermouth stirred over ice, strained into a chilled cocktail glass, garnished with a cocktail olive on a pick. And a timeless classic that I recommend to just about anyone is the Manhattan. It's a smooth cocktail with a good balance of flavor that's great for neophyte drinkers with a touch of class. Manhattan: 1 3/4 oz. bourbon or rye whiskey 3/4 oz. red vermouth 2 drops aromatic bitters (Agnostura, Peychaud, etc.)* stirred over ice, strained into a chilled cocktail glass, garnished with a maraschino cherry on a pick. *NOTE: It is amazing the difference that the 2 drops of bitters make to the taste of this cocktail. You can tell someone is making it right if they add these, and you can tell that a bartender is ill-informed or lazy if they don't.
