Yesterday I played my first ZvZ game ever. I wonder if some experienced Zerg players can tell me what I did wrong and what I should improve on? Also you had 3 larvae quite often, which is really bad ZvZ, not like ZvT or ZvP where you can get away with it, since ZvZ games are short and intense you need to use the larvae. only time you should have 3 larvae is when your spire pops. | ||

When I look at other Zerg players they have like 800minerals and gas when spire pops, how can they get away with that? I mean I needed to build drones and Zergling all the time just to stay alive, I don't see how they can build so little and still make it...? | ||

Number two, the second you have 100 gas, you should either be getting lair tech or ling speed. No reason to wait or you may as well not be getting your gas so early. Place your spire somewhere near your mineral line so you can defend it. Spire snipes are a common tactic. Something to note is if you want to have exactly three larva when your spire finished (so you can instantly build three muta/scrouge and not waste any larva) start saving up larva at 300hp of spire completion. You want to build a creep colony shortly after you start building the evo chamber, that way the second the evo chamber is done, the creep colony can be morphed. Otherwise its just wasted potential mining time. You should've placed the spore colony near your extractor behind your mineral line. A better zerg would've snipe your drones and only take maybe 2-3 hits from the position you had your spores. Learn to attack on the move with mutas. Have your mutas facing/directly behind their mutas and either press hold position OR directly click on their mutas. The moment they fire, press move in the direction of their mutas. This process takes less than half a second. Have your mutas stacked and in motion at all times. Its not like you have anything better to do and if they ever are stopped, they're vulnerable to being scrouged. Lastly go to www.scforall.com , go to the d/l box and d/l the muta scrouge micro map on the main page and master this The extremely obvious things: Don't have drones sitting around. Don't let your larva build up. You only have one hatchery, so for every 13 seconds (i think?) you let your three larva sit there, you loose a unit. Over the course of a game this can be a lot... Don't let your drones die. When their spire starts building, move your ovie away. | ||

Usually when that happens it's because zerg did overgas and hatch in main. Most of the time they get away with it because it's done mostly on ramped maps, which let you defend pretty easily with good ling positioning, even if you don't have ling speed. It has its counters just like any build though. | ||

You build order was wrong, before going for some new build, always double check it on liquipedia.net. You didn't used you first 100 gas anywhere, you made drones withuot scouting information on him. You got supply blocked and didn't used your larvae for quite a long time. You didn't got 2nd hatch when you should have gotten it (normally after spire with this build I think), anyway, you had like 350minerals lying in the bank. You didn't saved larvae for mutas when you should have saved. You tried to break the ling ramp with less lings and decreasing your own ling count even more. You made spores when you had same or even faster spire. You killed his overlord with 2 scourges, don't ever do that. 2 scourges can kill 2 mutas = 200 gas, 1 overlord = 0 gas. You didn't had any drones on gas for quite a while. You made drones again without any scouting information. You had macro problems in your attacks, always keep hatcheries producing units, at one point it was something like 400 minerals, 500 gas, 5 larvaes and available supply, you can't let that happen. | ||
