Maybe so in terms of offense, but Saka is fouled clearly and game is allowed to continue and VAR don't look at it. Then Kane is fouled clearly and ref says he got ball and VAR deem contact not inside the box and referee also is not allowed to go look at monitor which also baffles me. Rabiot has made 2 yellow card fouls and has none, linesman on nearside left his glasses at home and has given a goal kick instead of corner and looked confused when asked to make a decision. Feels like the ref is some sort of south american mike dean....

You CAN take the play back on the foul on Saka and that is 100% a foul all day long, even in the "prem" where things are let go more often, he swipes at the ball 3 times and doesn't get the ball on any occasion and the 3rd swipe takes Saka out with contact on the upper leg/hip area. That should be brought back and foul given. As i would like to point out, the biggest issue here is the referee gave NOTHING and said French player got the ball on both occassions on the foul on saka and clear foul on kane (whether penalty or not), utter trash performance from ref.

Some friends who watch regular football said Brazil bench squad was much better than our whole team, but clearly being a casual fan allows for much better predictions of national teams games since the tactics are less perfected than in champions league etc. Hopefully we beat the « perfide Albion »

The worst was the foul on Saka, which resulted in France's goal. That was really bad from the referee.

I only got one extra angle on the Kane one. Def a foul, not sure if inside. Good card on Dembele there.

It's about time a new nation ties with the record of Brazil and Italy (especially Italy which won with same coach). 'Fully deserved' is hard to really picture, to me, in a 32 team tourney where teams play against at most 7 of them, somewhat randomly determined. If it was a league setup of double round robins so each team played 62 matches, I'd be totally fine with the same team winning twice in a row. If a team is insanely dominant, facing their main competitors and winning clear three goal victories every time, fine. But France is currently 3-0-1 in games against Australia, Denmark, Tunisia and Poland. They're up against England, but it's not like they've really looked any 'better', and imo, Harry Kane being fouled 10cm inside or outside the box doesn't really make them more or less deserving. The championship setup generally has too much randomness involved for me to think we are necessarily crowning the best team, and therefore, I want to distribute them between the viable candidates. France does not look dominant enough to deserve winning two in a row, imo
