A bit worrying with the amount of stalemates and low-scoring games. Even with the England and Spain blowouts, the average goal per game so far should be one of the historic lows in recent history.

The average over the last 4 World Cups was 2.46 average goals per game, the tournament so far is at 2.43 average. You'd expect a higher average over group stages than knockout, so that skews the data for this year a little. So it's on the low side, but not hugely so.

I know vuvuzela was a thing in WC 2010, as are drums, but bringing a trumpet and playing a song during a game seems pretty strange.

Last two WC in 2014 and 2018 had an average goals per game of 2.6x. So this WC bucking the trend somewhat. I recall 2010 rather dire in terms of goals (even Spain the champions scored only 8 goals).

One has to wonder why he allowed the Ghana player to remain behind him.
