Ad for Dota 2 beta with Valve logo seemed weird. The address leads to site that wants you to subscribe with nick and email + posting it on facebook or something. They are not affiliated with Valve in any way, so it seems kinda fishy.

Hello, I do not know what kind of sketchy business scheme you guys are trying to pull off here, but tonight I have reached my breaking point. While just browsing my liquibets, I look over to see some woman in sunglasses flaunting her body. Not only that, but I while my eyes drift further down I notice she has a bit of a wedgie. Not an ass wedgie, but a full blown cameltoe. The thing that disgusts me the most is that this "woman" doesn't even care that she is showing off her cameltoe. You can see this smug look on her face and a t-shirt that simply says "meh." Meh? Yeah, ok, who cares if I'm showing off my cameltoe? Meh. Luckily, I am of age in my country, but can you imagine a 12 year old browsing the site and seeing this cameltoe? Teamliquid should have better standards than to show a cameltoe right on the side of their website. All that I'm asking is to please take in to consideration that not everyone is accepting of ads like these, and to please think twice before putting this up there. The picture in question: ![]()

It's not like we go around picking purposefully bad ads to show, they are all provided by 3rd party networks. Your thread was answered by a site admin. Those ads were aimed at you specifically because of your AdChoices preferences. It is possible to remove them on your end but TL should not be policing them for you. If a child is going to sites where it is possible to encounter these types of ads, I would hope that there is some sort of parental consent or supervision. That's not actually entirely correct on either account. If you use this site you will get ads for dating young women, quite often of Asian descent because TeamLiquid is primarily used by young men and there's a lot of korean discussion on the site for obvious reasons. As a straight woman who is the only person with access to this PC I can say I get the same sort of adverts from time to time because of how much time I spend on this site, and I'm certainly not looking to hook up with young asian women. It is also irrelevant if a child may reach sites such as TeamLiquid that might contain such adverts. This website is intended to be SFW and the tools exist to report inapropriate adverts and so should be. I know many of us would likely have no choice but to adblock the site if there were continually nothing but porn adverts and thus TL does police them (I also assume sponsers would like to keep it that way too). Blaming the user is absolutely the wrong thing to do. Edit: To add, I don't know they they *have* to police them, but it is decent that they do and keeps the site more enjoyable.

It has a built in addblocker for protection sorta. I dont get TL adds at work and I dont have any type of Addblock in my IE. It's kind of embarrassing to think anyone would ever click such an ad. I wish there was a "No, not interested" button you could click that would prevent that ad from re-showing for you. I mean if I wasn't interested in the ad the first time I'm not going to click it when it shows up 10 more times in a row. I don't think this applies to TL specifically though. It's just annoying to have so many ads for 'get rich quick' and 'too good to be true' schemes. Meh. Need some kind of script that loads the ads so it doesn't disrupt TL revenue then just loads a blank box on top of them or something. Does such a thing even exist?

Thanks for replying R1CH ![]() I've started becoming annoyed on these rollover ads as well. Being huge as they are, it's quite impossible to scroll down without moving the mouse over them, and what's worse it's that some (eg. the coca cola ad) do not disappear after playing or moving my mouse away and require me to close them myself. It's quite some trouble having to click and adjust it after loading every other page.

But it was a nationwide bank account i think. I really dont mind banner ads .. but are pop ups (or i guess technically pop in) intentional? In fact whilst writing this and looking through the thrad i got 2 more. When im reading a page you can bet your left bollock i dont give a fuck about freetime tv unless i happen by some travesty to be on their page. TF_INT. And again TF_INT. While it's not a huge ordeal, I always am stuck refreshing the page to get a better ad lol. So I guess more money for TL right. Anyway, if there is an option that can be made available that'd be cool. Worth asking at least. I'm having this problem as well right now. I'm getting lots of ads saying "Add me on facebook for a good time!" with giant breasts staring at me, which is awkward for work. They starting popping up very recently, in the last few days as far as I know. I'm not sure what the ad tag details are, but it says ad tag:TF_US at the bottom, if thats what you're looking for.

Ad tag: TF_INT. is the ad tag on the current page, displaying the rollover ad that is displayed on almost every single TL page. I understand these sorts of ads are probably better for TL, and only popup when scrolled over, but I have a pretty glaring issue with them. Even if I'm not on the TL page (i.e. on another tab with TL open), if I leave my cursor over the same space where the ad is present in the TL tab, the ad will popup and start playing whatever video associated in the TL tab. This can be pretty frustrating. I do have adblock, but whitelist twitch/TL/own3d/mlg/etc etc, I am just hoping that maybe there is a fix to this so I don't have to keep dealing with popup videos unexpectedly.

This ad started showing up yesterday, and only on my iPad. Couldn't upload an image from my iPad unfortunately, but it is a pink, pop-up advertisement along the bottom of my screen for mobilicity offering 50% off a phone deal. It appears every time a page loads, forcing me to close it, as the ad stays on the bottom of my screen as I scroll. I haven't had any issues with pop-ups on TL before, I assume this is unintentional. Again, I have only been having this issue on the my iPad, TL is all well and good on the PC. Edit: ad appears on my iPhone as well now.

Yep, that's the viewpoint I took. I don't know about you guys, but I kept getting "Snorgtees" ads with really sexually suggestive pictures even if they weren't actually nude. That was the last straw for me and I started ad-blocking TL at work. I posted in here and tried to do it the legit way without adblocking it, including going into my google ad preferences and removing everything it had picked up for me, but it didn't seem to help at all (I still got the same ads). I don't have a problem with ads "I don't like" in the sense that it could be irrelevant or advertise something I think is stupid, but I do have a problem with ads that basically make it so that if the ad is there I can't view the page.

TL comes across as inconsiderate. TL knows that a lot of people, myself included, will do everything they can to support TL, meaning we won't ad-block, and so we have to put up with these ads. I'm going to give TL one final week before I permanently ad-block TL on all my devices. By insisting on having as many different types of ads as possible, you are losing me as a source of ad revenue.

In my case, when I click on a stream and start watching, for some reason, my pointer ends up hovering there. I don't know why. Maybe because I move it out of the way of the stream. But point is, in practice, a hover ad is not an add where it only plays when someone shows an interest and intends to make it play. It seems to happen accidentally to more people than just me. I'm sorry for saying you guys try to milk us all you can, I can see that's not true now. I <3<3<3 TL immensely, which is why I have thrown such a fuss over this. I respect whatever you guys decide to do, but I think its valid to say that a hover ad is not actually a hover ad. They aren't only activated by interest. It happens accidentally quite often, and should be addressed as such. Since in the end, that's the experience the users have.

It seems to occur in when my mouse is on the ad, which is at the top of the browser and I go to click on a different tab. Example: http://www.twitch.tv/suftv/b/381396265 It seems to occur in other instances, but that is the one I can recreate. The other times I recall it happening is if I open a new thread and my mouse happens to be where the banner ad is. Before I notice, since I am usually reading the thread, the ad goes off.

I am happy to un-Adblock EVERYTHING on TL and all streams. However, the current Lenovo Yoga? add that expands into it's own window and starts a loud ad is very annoying. I will NOT adblock, but please look into! Thanks. EDIT: Sorry, I now see R1CH's note. I guess when I open a stream page, I leave my mouse in just the right place. SORRY! I will pay more attention in the future.

Reading R1CH's post and watching the video about how it triggers have been helpful in minimizing the number of times I deal with this, but overall I would say that I view it pretty negatively. Even with the knowledge of how to prevent the popup I still find myself making mistakes while using other programs and being punished by alarms. If it was just a silent popup I wouldn't mind, but the blaring of loud noise is quite irritating. My impressions are that teamliquid.net is generally much better about ads than other sites. I don't have to deal with inappropriate ads plastered all over my screen and as a result I more frequently see interesting tech ads here. At least for me this is one of the few sites where I have clicked on an add to learn more about the company as opposed to accidentally opening it. By contrast the lenovo ad seems more intrusive than the average for other sites. This was partly because I couldn't figure out why the ad was triggering while I wasn't on the page, and partly because ads rarely force proactive action from me to avoid them. If one bothers me or is in poor taste I can just stop looking at it. An ad that merely covers the screen does not impact me doing other things, but I find it hard to listen to music while this ad plays in the background. Take my feedback for what it is worth. I hope it is helpful, BronzeLeague

I was able to recreate the ad counting down without hovering over it, but this time a different way. Basically what I did was move the tab to create a new window, but placed the tab back. Then, for whatever reason, the cursor would count as sitting on the ad when you scroll across it vertically. Passing across the ad and exiting horizontally did not have the same effect. The video shows this.

It's an ad, it should just sit there waiting for me to look at it, and if it insists on being a roll-over, it should actually require me to pause my cursor on the ad, on the right tab, in order for it to expand and start blaring sound at me. I love TL and have proudly not used AdBlock ever since I came here, but this is testing my patience. It does require you to pause your cursor to rollover. However due to browser limitations, if you move your cursor directly from the ad to the browser chrome or another flash object, or if your sensitivity causes it to skip empty space, the ad never sees the mouse leave the ad since flash is a terrible thing and should not exist.

In SC2 wiki, in the left column there appears just awful ad, which makes loud noises even without mouseover, and if there are multiple liquipedia pages open, it's just non-stop "blah-blah-blah-blah", which is loud and usually louder than streams. Example of ad: http://i.imgur.com/8P7Pyp4.png Position of ad: http://i.imgur.com/3itXVqD.png PLEASE please please, get rid of these ads, they are so annoying, I am even thinking to turn adblock back on Link to ad (mined from page source)

I was curious and interested in the service, and so googled "bringmesports service" and all I found, aside from their website, were tech sites advising how to remove it: http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/BringMeSports-Toolbar-Chrome-Extension-33778-program.aspx For instance this page says it uses MyWebSearch, an old and well-known malware program. Another (that I can't seem to find again) describes it as a trojan that disables task manager and other windows utilities. From what I can tell this service seems very malicious and unsafe and anything advertising it should be removed immediately. EDIT: Another reference, clearly detailing its malicious nature: http://forums.anvisoft.com/viewtopic-56-2951-0.html.

German ad of Etithad airways that overlaps the first post on each page when you mouseover (this happens quite often accidently). Only gets back to the original size one you click on the top right where it says "schließen"="close".

It's a Walmart ad in Spanish that functions in a similar way to the German Etithad ad. The banner expands over the first posts or so if you accidentally hover over it.

I honestly wonder why adds would go out of their way to annoy you. That can't be actually leading to sales, can it? If they stay in their boxes, i might click them if i am interested in asian mail order brides at some point. If they do annoying shit, i will never, ever consider buying anything from them if i make a connection between that site and the add. I might click them once or twice trying to get them to shut up, but i will never actually stay around wherever they lead to.

But how do you identify a flash ad which is inserted into the code using javascript? I just don't seem to have the right tools, tracking it from the source is impossible - I can only give you that it leads to http://naturallylangkawi.my/EN/Home and that the insertion code is <div id="94480c598f" class="pagefair-acceptable"></div> edit: now I observe that it is more than one ad, all for Langkawi - i don't know if I should try to identify them all as I am not sure, what would be the useful data for you, but all show the same randlmy expanding behaviour in Chrome.

Also if you're interested to find which network it's coming from, use the F12 tools to inspect the page, it shows it after all the scripts have run so you can see all the ad code. It's usually nested quite deep inside several iframes.

![]() It beeps quite loudly when you hover over it. The expand timing is fine (like 5 seconds, not that you'd hover for 5 seconds because it beeps and plays bad music the whole time...). This is where the ad directs to. I don't know how to get anything else :/ http://www.telus.com/en/bc/tv/?cmp=BAC2014C3RichPandaOptikAge&CMP=ad00920e

I used F12 and found where the ad is stored but I don't really know what to look for there... (right clicking the ad doesn't give me a link because its a Flash thing) If you can give me a hint as to what to look for in the HTML and I remember to keep the tab open I can paste it for you later. ----- LOL and now I just got one in that same box that played music(my cursor was no where near the box) and was like "MGM" or something and it did a comic book sorta thing with heroes. ![]()

And more feedback on the mobile: my phone is really lagging on TL, but only on TL. Also there is an issue with the texting feature in replying constantly blinking on and off. Sometimes I select reply and then prepare to type, but the qwerty board never pops up... Sometimes it flickers. Again, this only happens on TL. Not even on Gawker. I actually am typing this in gawker and pasting it in TL. Don't know if it's ad related, but consider this bonus mobile feedback. Anyone else having this issue?

Something is randomly redirecting me away from TeamLiquid and onto an ad page, automatically. This happens in the main window, and if I press the back button, I go back to TL and get a different ad. I have no way of telling what ad is doing it as it transfers me instantly (before it loads, basically). Can I make Chrome automatically open things in target="_blank" so that I can stay on the page and maybe catch the ad in question when it tries to pull this bullshit? Info: I'm on Chrome, I don't have adware or malware to the best of my knowledge (I have MalwareBytes and Hitman Pro), I only have Chrome extensions I trust (and there is no adware in there), I have TL+ but I have checked to see ads anyway, I have no idea what exactly is causing this. Edit: Ad tag (found at the bottom of the page) was TF_INT, and it redirects me to http://ccebba93.se/?placement=400909&redirect which then redirects me to the actual ad. Edit2: And now I went to http://s.vgsgaming-ads.com/adiframe|3.0|1460|5208357|0|16|ADTECH;target=_blank;sub1=366464;sub2=;sub3=;sub4=;misc=1430350806 automatically. Still no clue why this is automatic. Edit3: Disabled all extensions, still happening. Also running HitmanPro again right now, but it's not finding anything. Edit4: No problems found in MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro, or MSE.

I've (for the first time on this site) encountered an annoying ad, that slowed down my browser and constantly looped a video with sound. As far as I could tell at the moment, I couldn't turn the sound (or video) of. I've made a screenshot of the ad, but didn't know the url was relevant as well. As soon as I encounter it again, i will note the url. If this is a known ad and not considered unacceptable, please ignore this post. ![]() Edit: Video url: blob:https%3A//www.youtube.com/12652ab0-f557-4eb9-8771-479fee3a93c3 Advertised site: http://www.oranjecasino.com/?utm_source=pf&utm_medium=DigitalMarketing&utm_campaign=OC-NL-2015_03_remarketing&utm_content=lpgonzo Hope this is enough.

Apparently i am not the only person that has that problem, but i don't know how i can get the information you need. Rightclicking just says something about an "O2 Player", the ad itself is from what i can tell for some deodorant, and half the time it crashes my flash player. I am using firefox, as that appears to be relevant for others that have the same problem. It would be really nice if you could get rid of these ads.

For now, just turning off Flash player seems to fix the problem, but i would kind of like to have that one turned on. same problem here. No idea idea if it's the specific adds or the player but it seems like the player just crashes or slows down everything even if it works. They don't autoplay for me so all I see is a black picture with a "play" button on it and despite not playing I have about ~2 second lag on this page. If I mouseover somewhere it'll take about 1-2 seconds until the link (like forum on the left) gets the usual mouseover highlight. Even as I'm typing right now I'm having the same lag and the words only appear a couple seconds after I press on the keyboard. If I DO press on the play button the video stutters like crazy (without sound, though might be that's just off by default?) and I get something like this: ![]() aaaand my other tab is completly frozen, just got the message in my browser that my flash-plugin crashed and that I should stop it I'm on Win8, Chrome if that helps. In the middle of a ladder game, there's suddenly *incredibly* loud music(I think it was music) blaring. Chrome helpfully tells me it's the liquipedia tab. There's a video ad playing: http://i.imgur.com/q71XTBD.png, but I can't tell if that's the cause because the entire tab is acting as if it's bottlenecking. Only reacts to actions ~20 seconds after. Not sure if this is even the right thread, since it's liquipedia. I pay for TL+ and would rather not adblock liquipedia, but oh my. My ears are still ringing.

Ok, I encountered it again while opening multiple tabs so I'm not quite sure what triggered it. It may be this ad, though. https://adclick.g.doubleclick.net/aclk?sa=L&ai=CbqpyyynjVsz_M4muhASdx6PIDvrPhY0I6uTGo4kBwI23ARABIABgyf7EjfSk0BmCARdjYS1wdWItMTI3NzYxODkxNDI4ODU1OcgBCagDAaoEjgFP0GnLAra4pRuFh0ebrv3o8x0SswpqywKUuRuHJifoXWFXvITeQq5LhVbKgik3hQ61UFFO8ITiQEQjeMwOZfJiF_DaQLhUj887G0hd-M5JZFjvdt7Hk-v4HkaXVRurk1n4Gab644-I89B2zquNfVNKaxIR7QYPDcO-xevLX_VoMUX0QeGtlZDwdfIIF8QpgAbypZmDtuC4pRygBiHYBwA&num=1&sig=AOD64_1izlD7dJJtS9d0NBfVsOP-heTjpg&client=ca-pub-1277618914288559&adurl=http://pr.ybp.yahoo.com/cj/cd/StSyWOW403JjKBNMmFEl5NpAObuHFek-u7N311yIRtA_tzxmwuJ86jlBiWxK4JFIHUX63EV-Q_nJDavLOLKP42vTo36AUuAmE_OXWaXDqOqfWFrEEQWZgWLxm9mUQXUW/rurl/http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/22221-213900-57512-46?mpt=6043629572999274212&mpcr=76786764&mpcrset=root

I have adblock at home, and I doubt that will ever change, but on my school computers, it's a tad tedious to download adblock every single time I log in, so I try not to. However, nowadays, as sad as it is, the only thing that pushes me to download adblock every time I log in is the ads on teamliquid. The ads here are honestly by far the worst of any place I visit on a regular basis, they slow down my browser immensely, start playing audio right away, completely unacceptable imo. I'm shocked its something you guys haven taken more seriously and looked at more closely, the ads sometimes freeze up my browser requiring a restart of the browser, which never happens to me on any other site. Anyway, if you guys use ads as specified "acceptable ads" in ad block, I'd gladly white-list TL, but in 50% of page loads I get moving pictures in ads, which I simply cannot and will not support.

Does the decision to allow video ads provide enough income to compensate for me using adblock on TL? I mean, I am still just one user, but let me guess, probably in the top 1% of pageviews per user. So if the video ads only bring a very small increase in revenue, they might actually be worth blocking just for me ![]() Because I am sorry, but I just won't let ANYTHING moving on my computer unless I really want to watch it. I don't know why (maybe a driver issue or dying hardware), but any kind of video takes a tragic performance hit on everything.

At first I thought it was something wrong with my phone or browser, but I only get these type of ads on here. Is it possible to get rid of those? They are really annoying and make me not want to go on teamliquid on any mobile device. Not sure if a screenshot will do anything in this case, but I'll add one later. It's not always, but often enough that it starts to get problematic(as I sometimes accidentally click that shit).

I'm having a lot of issue with the flash ad player on Liquipedia sites under the right info bar. For some reason my chrome on work laptop and stationary both have a tendency to get unresponsive as the ad loads, and often if i leave a Liquipedia page open it will crash flash after ~30 minutes. Right now i suddenly got a loud scratching noise, which apparently came from the same flash app. Guess the autoplay went nuts. Anyway, dunno if it's just me. I run windows 7 on laptop with Chrome Version 50.0.2661.87 m. Home is win10, probably same chrome version. Im backend developer so i don't really know much about flash and the player (besides fuck flash) but if i can give any info that might help this issue, i'd be happy to help. I don't seem to have this issue on other sites. Edit: Just tested again, this time in incognito. The O2 player chucked halfway through the video with lots of buffering, until it finally gave up and killed flash. I dont have problem with flash in general (more than, you know, flash sucks), so maybe its the O2 player? Almost looks like it have a memory leak or something. Also, it seems sometimes (depending on site content?) i get a different player, this one from sekindo runs flawless, seems like its HTML5 so that makes sense. Any chance the O2 player could die? :D

Full details is I'm browsing TL on windows 10 chrome Version 53.0.2785.89 m (64-bit). I've noticed this when browsing on my mac as well. I browse with no addons. That or I have some malware that only affects me browsing TL? I've attached a screenshot of my network tab in Chrome so you can see how many requests were made. In the time I've taken to write this post it went up by another 300 requests and actually crashed Chrome investigator so I refreshed page and so I can't capture exactly which ad it was but this is a rather frequent problem. ![]()

Because of that, I threw NoScript onto Firefox (the same source didn't produce strange SPANs in Chrome) and took another look at the generated source. EDIT: I just disabled AdBlock to see if I could report on which ads are causing this problem and it's just about every ad, both at the top right and bottom right. Ads from Mucinex, Samsung, and Mazda. Plus I got a video with audio for something car related as well, voiced by Sam Elliot. It's out of control. It makes the site unusable. Even as I type this, I get major lag in my typing and I randomly lose focus on this textbox so I have to click the textbox so I can keep typing. EDIT2: Just so you're aware of the use case. I typically go to the front page and middle-click all the latest items in the Community News section. That opens multiple tabs. So it's not unusual for me to have five tabs opened while I'm sifting through the news. This, obviously, compounds the problem when each tab has an unusually high amount of processing going on. Hmm, right now I have two tabs open, this one and another one for the front page that I just now opened. Even with AdBlock enabled, I got a video with audio, advertising Cirque Du Soleil with CHASE as a sponsor. The banner doesn't spread across the doubled screen anymore but it still causes the page to double in width. As the instances of the ad breaking my layout are significantly fewer than before, I, personally, wouldn't put too much effort into fixing the problem. I can live with the layout breaking from time to time. E:still on liquiddota only.

Clearly some advert redirected me to the site (I hadn't previously used an adblocker in this browser, but I now have one installed to write this post safely) The site I ended up on was "https://m-tgf.win/bbc", with some URL query params which I've removed in case they identify me in some way. The redirect was through a different site which I don't want to visit due to fears of malware; here's the redirect chain: https://imgur.com/a/BlfQQuF Obviously this is pretty unacceptable for an ad to do. It's clear that the adverts on teamliquid.net can run potentially harmful JS, which kinda makes it unsafe to use TL without an adblocker. [1] http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-tournaments/536775-gsl-2018-season-3-quarterfinals-day-1 EDIT: Here's a screenshot of the dodgy BBC-imitating page I was redirected to: https://imgur.com/a/Yu92j3W
