http://www.koreaboo.com/index.html/_/exclusive/breaking-exclusive-teddy-riley-confirmed-to-be-r6437 This explains at least a little bit of the issue with teddy riley and dr. music. basically, they misrepresented his involvement and used his name without consent etc.

I've followed Teddy Riley's career for a long time and I can say that man is the one of the most sleezy, shady characters in all of American music. He's underpaid all of his artists, cut their careers off in a whim, and gets involved in really petty shit. He is huge egomaniac that wants his name plastered in all of his acts. He's known for producing some of Michael Jackson's music. He just recently produced one MJ's posthumous tracks even though it was obvious it was not MJ who sang the track. His biggest personal act was Black Street. Even though he wasn't the main singer, he put himself as the lead. For those interested, check out his attention whoring in this video: + Show Spoiler + Rania has been the most perverted mainstream act to come out of Korea. Teddy Riley has his fingerprints (and then some) on this group and since it's completely bombed, he's lifted his parachute and blaming others as he's done so many times in his career. Trust me when I say the Korean music industry does not need Teddy Riley. That man hasn't had a decent hit in the U.S for a decade and he still uses his association with Michael Jackson to prolong his otherwise dead career. It's really upsetting to know that this douchebag is getting so much attention in Korea right now.

Edit: To below poster, I did not make a judgement of him based on his skin color, but from a little bit of internet searching and from what I have heard from friends. Put together, the picture I have of the man is a guy with a pretty massive ego that makes himself out to be bigger than he is. With that impression I drew my conclusion, nothing with race had to do with it.

I don't believe that there has been an official response from the company yet so we don't know their side of the story. Did not know him really before this, but he did strike me as the somewhat sleazy type and from the little I know of him I would not put it past him to drop Rania as soon as they did not break out. so your basically calling him sleazy and shady because the color of his skin wow.

I'd wait for the company to make a statement like he said, but I wouldn't put it past them to make unequal profit distributions or whatever. One of those wait and see things IMO. and it doesn't say that, it stated that as a rumor because he said something like he wants to work there. Nothing's definite right now. edit- as for him americanizing SNSD's comeback, kpop basically imitates western pop music anyway, Teddy Riley has nothing to do with that. SNSD has sang songs originally made for western artists (RDR being the most prominent example of this), and with so many songs being shopped to international markets anyway it's not like his influence will do anything much; he's a music producer, it's not like he's influencing their image or comeback. Also, if he's to be believed he didn't do much regarding Rania's image anyway, seems like the company just went super sexy to differentiate themselves from everyone else.

The way the article quoted his twitter made it seem like it was for real, at least for me. Good good. SM marketing will probably see how through Ted Riley's Midas touch. I thought he was responsible for Rania's image? I'm just concerned with the image, not so much the music. I realize that (I think all of them? am i right?) SNSD's promoted songs were originally written/composed by western composers. If I wanted to listen to eastern music I'd be chilling with my grandmother and watching beijing opera (hate that stuff)

OH! and INTNW are also both written by the same korean ''composer. So only Hoot and RDR were made by western d00des. Genie is like half/half, Dunno about CF songs and half-promoted stuff like Baby Baby.

SM better not let this man lay a finger on SNSD's comeback. SNSD isn't sexualized? They use sex more than most girl groups.
