also, how is switchbox going to handle that many people? If I recall its could seet 20-30 comfortably, but this is 64 gamers plus i would expext at least that many again in friends.
Brackets will be announced day of the event as people are still registering for the event. Unless we get 64 paid participants before the event.
Might be thinking of the other LAN center in Calgary. SwitchBox is the largest LAN center in Calgary and we will have 64 computers running for the tournament.

I'll drop by the event as soon as the TLOpen is done.

What are some cool things to do in Calgary? :D I have the Sunday off to tour around Calgary with my gf.
|
unfortunately not much stalife. Basically the same things you would do in other cities =(
And I'm thinking I may participate in this as well. So just to clarify, if we buy the ticket in advance at switchbox then we are guaranteed a spot, correct? Do you happen to know how many more spots are still available?
|
I hear the beds there are quite comfortable

Calgary is boring, especially when the weather is THIS god damn cold ... I'm guessing it's at least -35 degrees Celsius with the wind. I guess you could visit the zoo ... I wonder if they open during the winter?

I can recommend some restaurants, but with Zoo Lights over and the city in a deep freeze, there isn't too much really special to do. You could go skating at the Olympic Oval. Other than that it's malls, swimming, bars, lazer tag, etc. Stuff you can do in any other city.

if you go to the site, Projectxlan.com click the SC2 tourny banner, and hit participants, green checks are people who have paid, and x's not. Right now about 32 people have pre-paid, out of 64. So i think if you pre-paid now you would still be guaranteed. I pre-paid months ago. LOL.
Also I have room for 1 in my car, coming in from Cochrane, (west side of the city) PM if necessary.
Edit. To be clear, I can pick up anyone in the SW or NW.

Thanks Darpa
To clarify, yes, you MUST prepay in order to guarantee yourself a seat at the event.
With 90+ people registered, we obviously cannot guarantee everyone a seat and there are those who will unfortunately miss out.
We obviously expect to sell out and your best bet is to prepay now to save a seat, as any available seats the day of the event will be filled on a first come, first served basis (with users registered for the event on our site taking priority).
Prepay will be available online right until 8:30am Saturday morning, so you still have lots of time. Tickets will be available at SwitchBox until friday night when they close @ 4am or until we sell out.

The rooms are amazing considering the rates we are getting. Stayed there many times for our LAN party events and the beds are great.

I checked the forecast for the day of the tourney and it should be pretty nice. High 5c low -7c.

At the moment there is 32 people prepaid and yes, if you purchase your ticket at SwitchBox you are guaranteed your seat for the tournament.

What do you like doing together? There is some options around town but just depends what you are into. The Calgary Zoo is nice, Chinook Mall is 5mins away from the Hotel and has some nice restaurants, theater, bowling etc.. The Blackfoot INN has a nice list of the area and attractions.
