Hello TL,
I heard an opinion that IdrA quitting early in some of the vs. NoNy matches was BM. The explanation behind it was that in tournaments you are supposed to give 100% against the opponent, and letting it go when you still have a chance would be similar to not respecting your opponent, thus BM.
I just wanted to hear TL's opinion on this; If the opponent still has, let's say, a 1/3 chance of winning, but he GG's, is it BM? Even more so if it happens in a tournament?
Poll: Is it BM?No (75) 83% Yes (15) 17% 90 total votes Your vote: Is it BM? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
Thank you

??? wtf
if you leave early its not BM. early GG corresponds to your opponent winning and GG'ing for you, why would it be BM if you were losing to leave?
|
If you could quantify percent chance of victory, then you might have an argument.
Maybe.

I don't get it, do you consider it good manner to allow your opponent to kill you more? I think they'd rather you just leave and give them the win.

Maybe.
You would need a supercomputer to calculate the mathematical chances of winning at a certain point Maybe even that is not enough

This is so not an "early GG". An "early GG" is when your opponent is at least moderately sure they have you beat and GG "for you", so to speak. If you GG and quit, you've surrendered. How would that be BM? Tourney or not, you have to trust that you know when you'v been beat - staying around too long trying to salvage something that's unsalvageable is so frustrating IMO that it makes my play for the next couple of matches really awful. It compounds itself and I ragequit. So if I see that they're in my main ripping apart stuff and my army is cross-map, i'm going go GG out, tourney or no.

If anything it shows he has more respect for Tyler because he knows he's not going to screw up his advantage enough for him to make an unrealistic comeback. In a tournament setting there's no point in taxing yourself by fighting a long drawn out game you're confident you'll lose.
|
When something happens where you are going to lose the game 99% of the time, not GGing is BM because you are basically wasting an extra 5-10 minutes on a hope that your opponent screws up/mouse stops working/they pass out.
IdrA doesn't waste peoples time, he knows when he is done and when to move on the to the next match

I have tapped out of many games that I had a chance in, but either didn't feel like playing out, or didn't want to play out.
It's not bad manner to leave at any point in the game. It's your loss, and you're giving the win to your opponent even if you still have a chance.

No, Idra quits because he's behind. Go watch any instance of Idra leaving early he's always so far behind that it's almost impossible for him to come back vs a good opponent. So if he fast GGs vs you it's cuz he's giving you credit for being good and he has no chance. How is this bm?
|
I read the title as offensive GG but this is different.
No it's not.
The only thing this can be called is stupid, in some situations, since there are clear avenues for comming back even if it's an uphill fight.
|
Why in the world would that be bad manners? I kinda like that he doesn't shit around and just realizes early when he has lost the game. Much better then floating buildings just to delay as much as possible. It only affects himself aswell.
|
So because Idra gg'd when he thought that there was no way Tyler could lose after being handed such a huge advantage he was somehow disrespecting Tyler?
I see it the opposite way: he knows that Tyler is too good to fuck up in such an advantageous position and he concedes with that knowledge in mind.

ugh. not bm. GG is declaring you lost, there's not really such a thing as gging too early.
In fact, the whole argument is kinda dumb, as when you gg, you're declaring that you've suffered a setback so great that you will not be able to reach the win condition of destroying all of your opponents buildings.

Is it bm to walk over to your opponents corner and throw in his towel for him in a boxing match?
Stupid thread.
