Btw, do you run 3rd party software like Replay Manager during the game. I found that if I run Replay Manager to run SC2, it will be laggy but not spiking. Also check your graphic temperature, it might be overheating or something.

It's probably: 1) The latest SC2 patch, though I hardly believe this is the case. 2) RAM. That's right, RAM is known to be one of the top causes in fluctuating FPS. This means your RAM could be bad (errors, etc) and you should try running a memory test. You need around 4 gigs to have the best possible play. (One gig or two gigs isn't enough, even on XP) 3) Your processor, other components that can be a bottleneck. Could be the HDD too, because, second to ram, that also causes high lag spikes.

How do I know if it's my processor? My computer is basically brand new, a month or two old, it's just recently started doing this with sc2. I get hugeeeeee fps spikes, even in the menus. I have 4 gigs of ram, and It happened before the patch. quad core 3.2 gz processor Appreciate the help.

I'm experiencing a 'stutter', like my graphics would lag then catch-up while the game keeps on going. This only has been happening for two days, since I tried to use a 'unit testing map' on bnet, which lagged the game up and I just thought it was the map's problem, but every game's like that since, even on vs AI. Again, way above recommended status and was running fine before. 60+ fps even with the lag, according to sc2... ps, no drop screen on my oppo's side. edit: I played single player AI and there was no lag.

This computer had no problems playing it perfectly a week ago, now it's almost unbearable. I can confirm this. I got a ATI 5770 and SC2 started lagging right after I installed the new drivers. I played before I installed the drivers and it was fine. I installed the drivers and when I played again it was major lag.
