Plus, since the company I work for is the only Costa Rican company to be an official Sony licensed developer, we were invited to the ceremony as well as feature our stuff there. It was really nice to see this video message for the Costa Rican public from Hideo Kojima himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8aVrzqUPDg&feature=player_embeddedEDIT: Apparently the release was yesterday, i fkn missed it LOL This sux
Any chance we might get a translation for those of us not lucky enough to know either Japanese or Spanish? =(

Okay here's the English translation:
+ Show Spoiler + Hello everyone, I am Hideo Kojima.
When I learned what Costa Rica meant in Spanish, I discovered that your country lives up to its name...
... and really is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
The Drama Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker will take place in Costa Rica...
... and this will be the first title of Konami to be presented in your country.
Because of this, I would have really liked to attend this event, but my to-do list prevented me.
I really apologize and I sincerely hope that you will accept this video in my place.
It has been 12 years since Metal Gear Solid launched world-wide.
For the most part of those years, when people spoke of Metal Gear Solid, ...
... they were usually referring to it as a game of action and combat.
However, anti-nuclear and anti-war themes have always been present in my games...
... and I have tried to get across the idea of a "world peace without nuclear weapons".
Of course, a real world without conflicts, war, or nuclear arms has disappeared.
In the news we hear about tragedies caused by war in some far off corner of the world.
So, in this title, I wanted to go a little bit deeper than simply putting out a message of anti-war sentiment.
I want the people to really understand the true meaning of the word "peace".
"Why do we need a military?"
"Why do we have nuclear weapons distributed throughout the entire world?"
I want the people to understand the mechanisms that lead past generations to take us down this road.
The answer is the central theme for Peace Walker: that of "dissuasion".
In Japan, we are guaranteed peace in Article 9 of our Constitution...
... But when I think about a country without a military, the first place where I could imagine it happening in my mind was Costa Rica.
I thought that if I established the story in this peaceful nation, a nation that decided not to have a military, ...
... the theme of Dissuasion would be taken more seriously.
When I superimpose the drama in the game with the history of this beautiful country, a place that was able to bring about peace without ever using weapons, ...
... I want to imply that there exists the possibility of establishing peace without Dissuasion.
"Peace Walker" would never have been possible without Costa Rica.
And so to all of you, pleace, enjoy the game. Thank you very much!
