Mayber a little more in the puzzle solving genre but both of the professor layton games are pretty good. The seventh guest was another oldschool game that was pretty good.

I took an entire week off high school to play it, it really reached my heart. I totally agree on 2 as well. I would also recommend The Longest Journey. It's just a perfect adventure game =) The sequel, Dreamfall, is great too. Grim Fandango also a classic!

Adventure game budgets aren't what they used to be and a bad sequel can really ruin a great franchise, like what happened with Still Life. (By the way there's another recommendation right there, it's a dark serial killer mystery with occult underpinnings). But yeah, as I was saying, in my mind Still Life 2 never happened, ever. The people who worked on it weren't even the same and so I reject their conclusion of + Show Spoiler + who the killer really was in 1. But if they make it right... oh man. Break open another box of tissues for me! =D Kate Walker fighting! Edit: BTW if anyone's interested I have a 12+ page essay about the symbolisms in Syberia written by someone on AdventureGamers. It just goes to show how deep the game is!
