You can change your body and whatnot, but the mental part also comes with it, the more you start "adding up" the stronger you get, and the more confident you get at the time of trying more and more weight. Just my 0.5Cents.

I have a leg injury and I haven't really worked on these like I have benching Travis: Great question actually. At this level it really comes down to form, technique and physical ability. It really has less to do with will power. Sure the sheer locking out at the end of a bench can be determined by will but the speed you generate going up or the ability to keep a good stroke on the bench all come down to mental awareness and training/technique. The mental exertion comes in during training where you are tired and could lift more so it is determined by that. But with this amount of weight your mind really doesn't play that much of a role imo. I have days where my nervous system, joints and strength are all in it and I can do incredible. Then I have another days where I can't lift 100lbs within my max. It is very fickle.

I'm not way into deadlifting.. my training partner (video is in my blog on powerlifting) is WAY into powerlifting.. he did 750lbs as a 205 pounder. So I don't have any gear at all for that. All I have at the moment is Black wrist wraps and a special denim bench shirt.
