edit: The commentators think Charles used the mediums too much trying to catch up to Vettel earlier. I guess that makes sense

Yeah he'll be quicker for a bit, but he loses track position, and those mediums would end up being much quicker towards the end than used softs are going to be. edit: The commentators think Charles used the mediums too much trying to catch up to Vettel earlier. Those tyres have 3 laps I think, not that much (specially considering Mercedes' are used as well) and the track is not bad for deg so the mediums would be almost as good as the soft at the end. But until that point, he would have a hard time to keep up. Not doing it immediately was stupid because now he has to go through Bottas before even thinking about going after Hamilton. All of the above is the only rationale I can come up with...not that I agree with it.

I guess that makes sense I would offer another possible explanation, they just don't respect Bottas that much, so they expected to have 2nd anyway and then fight Lewis on the same tyres. And tbh, I think he will finish 2nd either way

So those softs are going to be pretty done by the end here =/

I think Binotto actually said they are doing that. Their Singapore upgrade was their last big upgrade of the year and they are moving onto next year already. He said there may be a couple minor updates but that's it.

Based on the performance afterwards, they are so focus on next year already.

Also, Albon matched Verstappen to the thousandth of a second (I think he himself said he probably wouldn't be able to since he's never raced at Suzuka before). Not bad for a guy who wasn't even in F1 until literally a week or two before testing. I'm thinking he might end up keeping that Red Bull seat. Gasly has been improving since he went back to TR, but Albon has basically matched all expectations from what I have heard so far barring that one crash in qualifying, though even then he managed to recover in the race to get to the spot behind Verstappen. Marko's complaint about Gasly was that he couldn't overtake. Albon doesn't seem to have that issue, especially since he did so last race with brakes that weren't working 100%. Dunno what happened with Ricciardo. He was nowhere at all. Renault seems to be having some problems.

Leclerc ignoring calls to pit while his front wings disintegrates No punishment for Vettel as he was stationary when the lights went out Verstappen retires. GG Honda Mercedes does it! 6 in a row for WCC
