The below are some unconventional strategies that can help win a match (usually as a surprise factor in a best of series matches).
PvT Using Disruption Web against tanks.
- The Dragoon-Corsair Build www.teamliquid.net
- Horang2 vs Piano www.youtube.com (Watch 11:18, 14:12 for the disruption web castings)
- Rain vs Sasin in ASL 4 www.youtube.com (Video starts at 1:43:44. Watch 1:58:20 and 2:01:57 for the disruption web castings.)
- Sky vs Flash on Circuit Breakers www.youtube.com (Watch 1:45:50 and 1:47:08)
DT Drop Opening + Double Stargate Scouts
- Bisu vs Hwasin www.teamliquid.net (Watch from 15:27 onwards for the Double Stargate Scout usage.)
Clearing Mines using Hallucinated Zealots
- Bisu vs Iris at Byzantium www.teamliquid.net (Watch at 27:23 and at around 30:00 for the hallucination action on zealots to clear mines. It might be a viable option in case the Terran opted to field/guard key positions/areas with lots of mines and defusing some of them with hallucinated units will minimize damage done.)
TvP 3 Starport Wraith Opening + Nukes and Lockdown
- Hiya vs Free on Triathlon www.reddit.com (A bizarre game in which Hiya opens up a 3-Port Wraith strategy and mixes in nukes and a lockdown (against an arbiter) with mech.)
Using Lockdown against Arbiters/Carriers
- Boxer vs Free (Boxer successfully averts a critical Recall using Lockdown) www.teamliquid.net (Watch 22:00 for the lockdown casting on the Arbiter).
- Boxer vs Nal_rA (Although Boxer lost in this match, it just shows the effectiveness of lockdown in neutralizing mass carriers) www.teamliquid.net (Watch 22:14 onwards for the lockdown action on carriers.)
Using Nuke
- Boxer vs Nal_rA www.youtube.com (Watch towards the end of the link for the nuke casting.)
PvZ Using Maelstrom
- Stork vs GGPlay (a combination of Maelstrom and Mind Control usage)www.teamliquid.net (Watch 41:36 and 48:00 for some Maelstrom actions, also somewhere in between 58:00 and 59:30, a defiler was mind-controlled.)
- Movie vs Shine (here, Movie used Maelstrom against mutalisks) www.teamliquid.net (Watch 24:10 for the Maelstrom action.)
- Jangbi vs Soo www.youtube.com (Watch 12:30 for the Maelstrom action.)
- Reach vs Chojja www.youtube.com (Watch 8:26 for the ultimate maelstrom action by Reach.)
Forge FE + 1 Speedzealot Opening
- Calm vs Jangbi www.teamliquid.net
ZvT Using the Nydus Aggression
- Action vs Light in ASL6 ro16 www.youtube.com (Video starts at 46:20. Watch 54:00 onwards for the Nydus aggression strategy via a sneaky drone.)
- Shine vs Flash www.youtube.com (Watch 10:20 onwards for the Nydus aggression.)
Using the Burrow Trick
- Effort vs Last in ASL6 ro4 (game 5) www.youtube.com (Video starts at 1:50:53. Watch 1:56:30 onwards for the burrow trick.)
TvZ 1 Base Nuke Rush
- Casy vs Jy on Troy www.teamliquid.net (One of the rare games where a Zerg have been nuke rushed. Watch from the start on the nuke rush coupled with SK Terran strategy by Casy.)
3-Rax Opening into 3 Port Wraith Switch + Nukes
- Hoejja vs Fantasy www.youtube.com (Watch from 19:45 onwards when Fantasy switched to the 3 Port Wraith build to counter mutalisks and 34:00 for the nuke execution on a Zerg base from a sneaky ghost.)
PvP Mass Scouts
- Stork wins with only mass scouts, cannons and probes on ladder www.reddit.com
ZvP 3 Hatch before Pool
- Jaedong vs Movie on Sparkle www.youtube.com (Watch from the start on this build.)

Nice collection. Some of these are truely awesome, stuff that happens once in 10.000 games.
Just some short remarks:
The lurker egg block is so common that you cannot call it unconventional. (clutch play though by Soulkey in the example you posted)
And I wouldn't call it "Nydus Trick" if we're talking about using the Nydus to attack, as rare and amazing as it is. Aggressive nydus/nydus aggression or s.th. seems more appropriate.
It would be great for your readers if, for each youtube-link, you could add the time at which the game in question begins - or even the exact point where the trick is used. Or you could post links that make the video start at those points (like you did for some). That always makes these kinds of posts much more convenient.
edit: thx for adding the times, awesome viewer service

edit: Action vs Light ASL6 Ro16 starts at 46.10. Crazy things start to unfold after 53:16.
Thanks for the feedback. Updated.

always nice, to see good games. but boxer three times for terran is kinda funny. almost like it's too hard to find creativity in that race nowadays :>
|
More like Boxer being the type to be more likely to try unconventional strategies, I'd say. Nal_ra was similar in that regard.
|
Leta versus rain on heartbreak ridge (or a very similar map, there's two that i always confuse) in a recent Starleague (either ksl2 or the latest ask). Lockdown and nukes. Sadly didn't close out the game though.

Probably the craziest TvP strategy I ever saw. Also there is the unusual Starcraft thread which has probably all the unconventional stuff of the professional era: https://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/197538-cool-and-unusual-starcraft

Shine vs Flash in the last OSL was genius (offensive nydus on Eletric Circuit).
|
Also, Jangbi used Maelstrom againt Mutas in this OSL, against Soo.

Thanks for the feedback. List has been updated. I will try to add on as many as I can though it might not feature the whole list of tricks as there are too many games to cover.

Just realized that. Yeah, that thread could do with an update.

Some unconventional strategies from me:
TvZ:
- 1 base nuke rush
TvP:
- Rax FE into 6 CC nuke into tank / bio (only at lower levels) - Wraith rush + obs snipe
PvZ:
- 1 base Forge +1 opening
PvT:
- combination of any unit with proxy, lol. You can do anything vs terran and often get away with it giving you a huge lead (of course will back fire horrobliy if terran understands it)
ZvZ:
- 3 or 4 hath hydra
ZvT:
- 2 hath muta into lurker / swarm rush (as did by effort in ASL) - burrow / lurker rush (opening pool 1st and burrow to block the CC)
|
TvP: 3 port wraith rush with obs snipe, if it goes well transition to battlecruisers is possible. Advantageous if bc can abuse a cliff as on FS T spawns top left, p top right, t expands to 12 and can harass nat of p with bc. Pure dragoon is rlly bad against bc.
|
Scout/reaver is quite common these days, so probably that's the reason it hasn't been mentioned so far
|
TBH scout/reaver seems to be just a worse version of corsair/reaver..
|
3 stargate scouts vs zerg

Updated the list to include the 1 Base Nuke Rush TvZ strategy. One of the rarest games that I found. Will continue to update the list to include more unconventional strategies in the coming week and thanks for the recommendation.

Can't believe you didn't mention Reach vs. Chojja under maelstrom vs. Z.
|
Why wouldn't you add +1 Forge opening. This has been played so much on ladder in 2008~ (e.g destination)
There are very cool ways of playing it, you can cannon rush, you can do very strong 2 gate pressure etc..
