We are extremely close to shutting down this thread for the same reasons the PUA thread was shut down. While some of the time this thread contains actual discussion with people asking help and people giving nice advice, it often gets derailed by rubbish that should not be here. The moderation team will be trying to steer this thread in a different direction from now on.
Posts of the following nature are banned: 1) ANYTHING regarding PUA. If your post contains the words 'alpha' or 'beta' or anything of that sort please don't hit post. 2) Stupid brags. You can tell us about your nice success stories with someone, but posts such as 'lol 50 Tinder matches' are a no-no. 3) Any misogynistic bullshit, including discussion about rape culture. 4) One night stands and random sex. These are basically brags that invariably devolve into gender role discussions and misogynistic comments.
Last chance, guys. This thread is for dating advice and sharing dating stories. While gender roles, sociocultural norms, and our biological imperative to reproduce are all tangentially related, these subjects are not the main purpose of the thread. Please AVOID these discussions. If you want to discuss them at length, go to PMs or start a blog. If you disagree with someone's ideologies, state that you disagree with them and why they won't work from a dating standpoint and move on. We will not tolerate any lengthy derailments that aren't directly about dating. |

Im always doing my best to be considerate when we go out and eat, and she always tells me not to stress about it. But obviously I want her to enjoy going out eating as much as me. So far the only really good vegan joints weve been to are only open during the afternoon. Been having a hard time finding a legit vegan spot for a romantic dinner setting. Im based in Oahu btw. Options seems present, but man its actually quite difficult to keep this up. Ask her what places she would like to go and check out if their menue suits you as well, then go there? She's prolly a bit more versed in the scene than you Unless you want to suprise her every time. Then go for some online vegan guide (which you probably already did) or ask around. If you have a favourite restaurant yourself ask em to provide something nice and vegan. Often works. My GF sometimes asks whether they can prepare her something along her guidelines and it ends up being fantastic now and then.

But I want to surprise her and not let her worry about choosing where to go. Options are definitely there when I call ahead of time to ask what they can accommodate, only problem is that her pallet is so refined with well seasoned vegan foods that Im afraid w/e stuff the chef can put together wont be on par. Ive been doing research all day lol, so far I found a good spot that serves vegan lasagna and I think that she can definitely appreciate that.
Thanks for the input o/

Vegans always remind me of this story so I always have a presupposition that they are part of a radical anti-meat group.
The story is right, though, in that eating at home is not the worst option there.

Sort of what I was going to say. Veganism is just another religion, and it's a bitch (I mean lifestyle). I'm not giving up on meat and dairy. Fuck veganism!

She is vegan for dietary reasons. We both work in leather handbag retail.

Holy shit that's amazing :D "Welcome, to spirit garden, where we protect precious animals by eating plants only" "Oh fuck that, we skin em and wear 'em all day long, it's about the money baby"
Is someone actually allergic to dairy and meat though? I was not aware

To be on topic. If she says "its fine anywhere" if she asks which restaurant, just believe her? She is probably already used to not having 50 different dishes to choose from. And if you do go to a good restaurant they will have good vegan options. No need to make a big deal out of it tbh.

As he said, he'd like to suprise her. Which, as long as you don't get stressed over it, is very nice in my opinion. It can be rewarding to find the perfect fit for the SO though

Mind your own business. Unless you're some kind of nazi, this is democracy and everyone can express their opinion.

Dairy? Yes. Lactose intolerance is a real problem. It's not strictly allergy maybe but you still feel side-effects.
Edit: http://www.everydayhealth.com/digestive-health/milk-allergy-vs-lactose-intolerance.aspx
Apparently milk allergy is also a thing.

This is not the place to argue about your "opinion", so I will refrain.

What do you think about that btw guys Is that a red flag? I really minded when I was seeing a gluten free vegan.
And my girlfriend told me it was really annoying dating a guy who was doing iifym strictly (while feeding her chocolates)
Although I must say I gained weight like crazy and doing a cut will be damn hard since my skinny girlfriend who never gets fat loves candy, unhealthy food etc. etc. and it's super hard to keep discipline when you see your SO doing that.
(I'm a stress eater, she's a stress starver and we've been both stressed as hell in our careers lately)

Dietary habits are only a red flag relative to individuals who have particularly incompatible attitudes towards food, and even then, there is no hard set rule. My friend has an aunt who is a hardcore vegan and yet she's been married to a protein-obsessed gym rat for well over 30 years.
Generally speaking, being a vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore isn't as important as the habits/philosophy that accompany said approach to food. Personally, I don't see myself ever being able to shack up with someone who considers my diet a perpetual act of unjustified violence, but luckily, my large frame and irreverent affect seem to do a fine job of chasing folks like that away

I see veganism (for dietary reasons) the same as people who portion or count macros daily. I'm the type of guy to meal prep for the week and sometimes completely omit starchy carbs when I'm on a cut. Both are a conscious decision for a healthier living lifestyle.
Also imo, I find people who take iifym too literally weirder than activism vegans.

I will simply agree 100% with you, for a change.
I disagree with Emnjay808. People who follow IIFYM do not consider people who don't do their diet violent murderers like some vegans do. Veganism for the most part is not just a way of eating, but a belief system and a political doctrine to an extent, with which I strongly disagree. Morever, on the odd case a person is vegan simply for the nutritional aspect, they are also horribly misguided.
