At the very least, they completely overpaid for Trubisky. If they traded down a little and then grabbed him because he was their guy, then I'd be okay with it. Instead, they traded up and shed a bunch of other picks to get a quarterback without a history of winning. This is like trading for Cutler all over again and I hated that trade back then despite the Chicago media slurping it up. I believe that trade cost two GMs and two coaches their jobs. Now we're putting so many of our eggs into the next "good on paper" QB who has never really accomplished anything. Meanwhile we've got a team that's depleted at almost every position and whoever we put in at QB better be really good at standing up after getting knocked down because he won't be doing much else. That sounds like a team that needed to trade down and grab a whole bunch of mid round picks to rebuild with. I just hope they saw something in Trubisky that everyone else missed. If not, I hope we can find a competent GM sometime in the near future.

Not only did the Niners fleece the Bears, but they may have come away with two of the top five players from this draft. With proper development, the Niners likely fixed the middle of their defense for years to come.

Yeah I remember them getting like D/F first round grades for Frederick. This year NFL.com gave 22 teams As for the first round though and if they didn't like your pick they gave you B+. Don't want to be negative and end up being wrong!

The Browns supposedly made another offer last night and the Bears gave up a shat ton for what should have been a 2nd round QB. If Jimmy was in this draft he'd be the #1 QB to go, so I don't really understand what the plan is for next year? I'm wondering if there would even be a reasonable offer that could get him though. Like the redskins will trade cousins but the asking price would be an RG3 level deal for like 3 first and other stuffs. And has for decent backups there was talk that the bengals for example would ask for a basically what the bears gave up for trubisky. When was the last time a trade like that worked? Just cripples your depth usually The only incentive for risking it on a rookie I guess is that they are relatively cheap

So even if he becomes a top 10 pick its not a great pick maybe a B at best! I doubt that the Bears would have gotten Trubisky if they didn't trade up for him. The Niners were clearly fielding offers to trade down and would have taken the best package available in all likelihood. Assessing the Bears trade really comes down to how good their evaluation of Trubisky was. If he pans out, there may be decent value in what they did. Otherwise, they're fucked.

The Cleveland Browns have released tight end Gary Barnidge, the team announced Friday. "We'd like to thank Gary for all he has done for the Browns and the Cleveland community in his four seasons with our organization," said Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown. "He has been a fine representative of our team, and we wish him the best going forward." Barnidge was a Pro Bowl alternate after the 2015 season but was deemed expendable after David Njoku was drafted on Thursday. Source
