I recently started trying to play bw again. Everytime a game starts, i drop within the first seconds, sometimes after a minute or so, during the time i can select and move my drones it is somewhat laggy.
Unusual for me because my internet connection is fast enough , other games work fine, CSS and some other steam mods work lag free. My computer is a bit older and running Windows XP, but i dont see that being the issue as other games and browsing is working fine.
I tried reinstalling BW, using mca/iccup launcher, port forwarding and setting up static ip for the heck of it(although i didnt think that had anything to do with it), of course it allows me to host games but the same thing happens.
ONE ODD occurance, i was once able to play a 3v3 bgh, and lasted about 15 minutes before i dropped.
Also most of the time when i drop it says my connection to battlenet has been lost, and when i exit starcraft my connection is disabled for a few seconds then reconnects.
I even tried most of what this guy tried in his fix , although our problems were different.

Another interesting thing which might help to narrow it down... I'm using rogers high speed internet wireless, my computer is using one of those USB wireless connection sticks and it works great for everything, THIS IS ON THE PC I WANT TO USE FOR BW which has the drop problem. But also on a laptop which ive joined and obs games no problem , which is connected to the same wifi also uses one of these usb sticks to connect, and it works fine , no problem...i cant figure out what the problem is here on this PC...
I have windows firewall disabled .... I cannot think of anything else i can do but im pretty ignorant in this area.
Any and all advice would be really appreciated i really want to practice up and play some bw again, it always worked fine on this computer.Any more info u need please let me know...

Shield Battery should resolve these issues, only problem is it is in closed beta atm so you may have to wait a few weeks to get an invite, but once you get in you can literally play anytime you want. And matchmaking is coming soon as well.

Just to rule it out completely: can you try to connect with a wire?
|
Sometimes this happens if you are on an old version of iccup launcher (AH) Wouldn't hurt to see if you can update it.
Try it without mca64 too
|
I could possibly try connecting with a wire but ide have to go buy one not sure how much they cost and it will have to be really long... ill try updating iccup launcher see if that works i have tried the iccup launcher as well same thing happened but i didnt try manually updating yet. Shield battery sounds interesting option but i really wanna play on iccup and fish.... thanks for the input guys .

try to reinstall your OS if u can
|
wierd i updated iccup launcher, it let me play a 2v2 but it was pretty laggy, not unplayable but definately not quality gaming, every so often i got the drop box coming up but it would go away, i lost connection to server but was able to keep playing... then 2 players dropped, and me and one other remained and the lag was gone... but it still seems like the same problem overall..

not sure if i can reinstall OS , lost a lot of stuff in a move, just had the pc, and what was on it lol

For clarity,
the other laptop you're testing on is running which Operating System? My first assumption would be some incompatibility between the USB wifi-stick software and windows XP, but I have no technical basis for that.
Have you tried running BW without any launcher at all? Have you tried disabling/enabling CPU throttling in the Starcraft options?
Hopefully Xboi or someone more knowledgeable has some ideas.

on the laptop which works its running windows 10. The thing is the usb stick that connects to the wifi is working great for EVERYTHING else on this pc.Ill see if cpu throttling makes a difference .

still no luck i might go buy an ethernet cord monday and see if that fixes it ..lol im gonna need a 50 foot line i think.
