With the expectation that they'd then take said newly popular girls and install them in groups of their own, thereby jump starting the popularity of said new groups. I think the group itself did end up being more popular than they'd expected, though. They probably expected (and I'm not really sure if this isn't actually the case) that fans would latch on to just one or two members and not care much about about the larger group. In any event, it remains to be seen if this will end up helping any of the companies with promoting any artist/group on their own. | ||
