NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fuck, fuck fuck. I'm so incredibly sad. I'm a big SC2 fan, but unless it's Rain playing I always just root for close, entertaining games. And it's so much more fun and immersing when I'm fully behind a player and really hoping that they win.
As I've said in the other threads, huge props to him for being such a great dude all around. Was known as an amazing guy before he donated part of his liver, and this just cements his legacy as a person. Despite how selfishly sad I am that I won't be able to watch him play anymore, I hope he enjoys his rest and wish he finds major success in whatever he chooses next.
Who am I going to root for now :S Been an ultimate Rain fanboy ever since he showed up on the SC2 scene and established himself as the best and most successful KeSPA player during 2012. I remember his insane double royal road run in the 2012 GSL and OSL - winning the OSL and barely losing in the GSL semifinals 3-2 to Mvp.

I've watched him for so long, spent so many hours studying VODs and replays...he was my favourite player to learn from. I can't believe I'll never watch him play again.

As stated in the op he was thinking about retirement, combined with the medical issue from donation and departure from SKT1. I'm sure the WCS news didn't help his decision. Even with WCS being racist towards Koreans, not all retirements are going to be about new policies.
I am sure the wcs overhaul will frustrates the koreans like rain who was very active in the foreigner scene. I wouldn't guess that it has no impact in many korean pros.

I remember when Rain was a powerhouse in the scene. Super solid player. Farewell to another legend...

great job blizzard, I hope you are proud.

Thank you for the memories, Rain. Best of luck in your future endeavours and a swift recovery to yourself and your father. Keep your chin up

MMA was the rightfull king to the crown but there was a time where you wore that crown given by MVP.

Hopefully there is no third. Don't want another big name retiring it's not like Liu Bei and co actually died on the same day anyway!

Man everyone is retiring at the outset of LOTV . So many feels.

Sad to see such a great player leave the scene, but you have to admit he is going out in style. Ending at the top of your game is a good way to go. Good luck to Rain!

Best of luck!
So many retirements, flash, rain and MMA in a couple days

Sad day
Is he the only player to ever win a GSL while on a foreign team (i.e. without the benefit of Korean team house practice)? I wonder if that added to the degree of difficulty of his win at all.

Don't you think, that donating parts of his liver has a bigger impact on Rain than WCS format changes? Especially, since he is someone who is good enough to stay relevant in the korean leagues?
Anyway, best of luck and a good recovery to him and his father, hope to see him again at some point.
