Rain, previous winners of Ongamenet Starleague and GSL, has selected retirement a day after Flash held his retirement ceremony. Rain came to the reporter seat after the ceremony was over and talked about his retirement. He said that donating part of his liver required him to rest for a bit, and made it difficult for him to play games. Rain has thought of retirement since he has left SKT1, but chose to postpone it for a year.

Rain became the Ongamenet Starleague champion in 2012 after beating DRG in the finals. He has also achieved second place in 2013 WCS Korea Season 2 Starleague, and became a GSL champion in 2015 GSL Season 2 after beating ByuL. There are only 2 other players who have won 2 Korean Starcraft 2 Starleagues: Classic and Maru.

However, Rain needed a long period of rest after donating a part of his liver to his father, and made his decision on the day his good friend, Flash, left the scene as well. It was truly an end fitting for the 3 Musketeers.

"Thank you for my fans, who have loved me throughout my career."

note: The 3 musketeers bit is not literal. 도원결의 comes from "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", which is like a fantasized book based on a period of Chinese history and is very famous in China, Korea, and Japan. Kinda like Star Wars as to the fandom because people who know it go really, really deep into it, and there are some casuals like me. I recall someone asking for translation for it on Seeker's thread so if he/she is watching...

No mention of 1st place in 2012 WCS Asia? Or 1st place in 2013 Hot6ix Cup?

Rain career achievements (including the ones not mentioned in OP):
1st place 2012 OSL Season 1
1st place 2015 GSL Season 3
1st place 2012 WCS Asia
1st place 2013 Hot6ix Cup
1st place HomeStory Cup XI

3-4th place 2015 SSL Season 3
3-4th place IEM VIII Cologne

- #1 2014 Proleague individual win percentage at 68% (21-10, 4-1 in ace matches)
- #3 2013 Proleague individual record by wins at 36-22 (behind only Flash and INnoVation)
- Perfect 5-0 record in 2014 Proleague Playoffs (wins over Hush, Hydra, Bbyong, herO, Zest) including ace match win vs herO in game 7 to send SKT to finals
- Finals of each of the ONLY 2 OnGameNet Starleagues in SC2

All I could think of at the moment, if anyone else thinks of more please post it!

Rain is the only player to ever be worth 11 pts in FPL

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that one, thanks.

- Rain is also the only player to win GSL Code S while on a foreign team.

Don't know how I forgot about that one, it's a pretty remarkable achievement if you really think about it. Winning Code S despite not living in a team house for almost a year? Crazy. Rain and Parting are really one (well, two) of a kind.

Maru won OSL on Prime. Innovation did most of his 2014 GSL run while on Acer and was only on SKT a week before the finals.

I was never a fan of Rain, but I always respected him and secretly hoped my favorite players could dodge him in tournaments. I'll certainly miss seeing his name around - he was one of the greatest protoss players in SC2 history. Farewell, Rain =(

True, but in both of those cases they lived in team houses (as far as I know). While on mYi and while winning GSL I don't believe Rain was living in a team house, and I think most agree that the team house environment is very, very helpful, especially for big matches like OSL/GSL finals.

And even though Innovation was only on SKT for a week before his GSL, he still had the benefit of that week of preparation in a team house with everybody on the team focused on helping you prepare for your match, coaches giving advice, and coaches/teammates being at the studio during the match, watching the games live, and going in your booth to calm you down, walk through the game with you, give advice on what was done wrong/how to do it better, give build order suggestions for the next set, etc.

I didn't even think about what will happen to Jaedong.

Where is he staying these days? Does he have enough quality training partners right now?
Will EG find a Proleague team for him? Will EG and JD stay with each other?

This must be a hard decision for JD. I hope he finds the best solution for him.

I love this scene, which is made from passion.
