Writing this on the airplane from Hyderabad to Shanghai.
"We know full well that the insertion of new habits or the changing of old ones is the only way to preserve life, to renew our sense of time, to rejuvenate, intensify, and retard our experience of time--and thereby renew our sense of life itself. That is the reason for every change of scenery and air, for a trip to the shore: the experience of a variety of refreshing episodes."
Knowing this, I planned a trip to see my buddy BLinD-RawR in the birthplace of Buddhism. Just completed the first leg of the journey! I had a wonderful time in Hyderabad. In no small part due to suggestions and help from a couple TLers
I landed in the early hours of the 18th at Hyderabad and made my way to my hotel in Kondapur.
The first day I just relaxed at our hostel to sweat out the previous day of travel and to take the time to sort out what I wanted to do while we were in the city and how I was going to go about it. I decided to spend the first day sightseeing around central Hyderabad, just walking around exploring.
This sculpture was my favourite.
On the 22nd, I met up with BLinD-RawR, who had come a fairly long way down to hang out with me. Once again having a lovely time getting to know someone I had been speaking to through TL for years. My favourite part was talking about tropes commonly used in Indian films. We went to a biryani place, which is said to be the best in the world. It's some kind of rice stew with meat.
Obligatory chomsky reference for martx2:
