Starting from pools is a HUGE advantage. Well they should've won the qualifiers/Open Winners Bracket if they wanted to get pools. It stinks but that's how tournaments are. they had an american qualifier, a European qualifier, 3 invite only qualifiers that were almost exclusively NA (with a few Aussies), and one Korean qualifier that awarded a single spot.
What's your point?....

Been up all night, it's 8:30 where I live. Should I go to sleep and wake up to see the games tommorow or try to stay awake and probably fall asleep and miss it?

Well at least Bomber had the best game of the tournament against JD

And that was not participated in by Bomber or Hyun, and their non-participation was sure as hell not MLG's decision.

Well, they all knew the tournament conditions (yeah, some issues made it worse), so in the end im just surprised that such a strong pool of players showed up to fight under a disadvantage o_O Those guys... i praise their hard work

You can't argue that the way it was set up gave us some really top heavy pools

Players like TLO, Petraeus, etc who got the unbelievable advantage of starting in pools got the same place as Bomber. A player of Bomber's caliber starting from that position may have done muchhh better. Pools are an insane advantage, and the way the spots are handed out is questionable
OK, that with the rest of the comments on this page clarified it for me.
Koreans getting shafted all over again.
Only good Terrans are Korean Terrans, so Terrans getting shafted too!
Please Polt.

However, there was only one spot there and a myriad of players in the open bracket that are much better than those that were in pools.

Just like in traditional sporting tournaments, the host country gets to place wildcards into the main draw by virtue of them organizing the event. In this case there are more spots for NA players into pool play. Simple.
|
Welp. At the very least we still have 2 canadians to take on the korean domination. I think they're both gonna lose first thing tomorrow but I'm happy they made it this far.
|
I mean I guess people got what they wanted, because a lot of people wanted a lot of NA players on display at MLG like they used to be, but to be honest they're not strong enough to deserve the spots. One possible solution is to go back to the system where they had more pools. Only 2 pools was a little tight

Well whatever, we never have a perfect format anyways. Nothing in this world is perfect, I still think we got some nice games so far. Really impressed with RagnaroK's performance, he's doing so well! Tomorrow should be dope, I'll see you all in that thread!
