And they all get $0 so really what's the difference

The difference is a player that just played through that marathon of difficult open bracket play could have gotten much further starting from pools instead of the bracket. Starting from pools is a HUGE advantage.

it's been like this since the beginning, what can ya do.

Wasn't like this at either MLG last year. But then they slid backward to 2011 for some reason.

I still highly prefer the open bracket. Now, only if they would have casted Bomber vs Jaedong.

We may not have seen it but boy was it a good game.

Open bracket is fine, but pools are dumb. Getting put into pools and getting dead last is better than defeating 5+ difficult opponents in the open bracket then losing twice to good players

Well they should've won the qualifiers/Open Winners Bracket if they wanted to get pools. It stinks but that's how tournaments are.

Winning a qualifier is better than not. What a novel concept.

they had an american qualifier, a European qualifier, 3 invite only qualifiers that were almost exclusively NA (with a few Aussies), and one Korean qualifier that awarded a single spot.

Qualifiers were set up so much worse players would be in pools... Only one spot for a Korean to qualify. But good job on the zinger you really got me.

Please explain.

Sad for Bomber.

Players like TLO, Petraeus, etc who got the unbelievable advantage of starting in pools got the same place as Bomber. A player of Bomber's caliber starting from that position may have done muchhh better. Pools are an insane advantage, and the way the spots are handed out is questionable
