Probably end up being labelled as thr greatest thing in the world since sliced bread.

Sliced bread is overrated

Really awkward.
Now for some champagne.

This is a publicity stunt if anything Seems like Kespa agrees with the majority of foreigners: White dude wins a game - greatest thing ever. Just look at Goms seeding system. Special treatment for foreigners is sad, but that's just how it seems to work in SC2.
There is a huge difference between naming a foreigner MVP for one win, and getting a Code S seed for good international showing (especially these days, when Koreans are going abroad to compete).
The latter is like Gom saying, "you've been doing great elsewhere, now we'll give you a chance to prove it in Code S." The former is the equivalent of the Koreans clapping really excitedly for a dog that managed to learn a command like "sit".
It's still special treatment of course, but the magnitude does make a difference.
Edit: typo

So 1-3 gets you mvp just because you are white?
What a joke, my mvp is Flash... I'm starting to really hate foreigner bias, like first tournaments drop in viewers when the last foreigner is out (like wtf thats when the games start to be good) and now even kespa shows such huge foreigner bias. I miss the days when being on the b team of a korean team made you the best foreigner...

MVP: Most Valuable Player,
In sports, a Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is an honor typically bestowed upon the best-performing player or players on a specific team, in an entire league, or for a particular contest or series of contests.
While I think it's acceptable that Thorzain's achievement merits to be noticed and honored, they gave him the wrong trophy.
|
Haha, the "blue eyed warrior" is pretty awesome/hilarious.
I dunno if 1-3 warrants the typical MVP accolade, but since that 1 was such a big deal... I'm still really happy for him
|
Rather stupid, I must say. Some silly statistical fact isn't a valid excuse to give someone MVP award for a single game (losing every other game)... I want good games. I could care less whether they are Korean or not.

But SC2 isn't sports. Heh. Valuable also has multiple connotations.

Way to go Thorzain! GZ GZ GZ

Well this is kind of strange. Well cool for him.
|
Good for him, hope it gives him some momentum trying to prove he can do much more. Maybe the name of the thing doesn't quite match up with the numbers, but so what. Use what you get.

isnt blue eyed warrior...giyom? (maybe i'm not recalling it correctly) recycling nicknames eh?
edit: giyom is green eyed warrior ^_^

Ehhh, I don't agree, a 25% WLR with only a win against Classic just seems like a PR stunt to me. Just because he is the first foreigner to win in PL in years does not put him in the running for MVP against people with WLR higher than 50% at least. I understand ThorZaIN is a huge part of the foreign scene, but one win does not equal a MVP.
|
|
MVP? Really? I get that it was a special win but giving him MVP over Flash is ludacris.
|
Next thing you know, they'll start giving awards when you don't lose too badly.
|
Well it is the "Most Valuable Player" award, don't necessarily have to be about the success of a player.
