Hi I'm Arlock and Hi I'm Axslav we're roommates currently living in San Leandro, CA (even though Axslav is moving shortly). We both like beer and we both LOVE great beer. We'll be reviewing various beers we've encountered on our beer adventures.
+ Show Spoiler [Axslav&Arlock] +
For our first blog we will be reviewing a Russian Imperial stout from Drake's Brewing. Drake's is an amazing local (to us) brewery in San Leandro, CA: Drake's website.
Drake's Drakonic BEER FACTS: Alc/Vol: 8.75% Original Gravity: 21.8 Malt: American 2-Row barley, C-120, Roasted barley, C-45, Chocolate, Black Hops: German Magnum Yeast: White Labs 001 AWARDS: Winner Good Food Awards 2012
Axslav's review: A full flavored and very rich beer with a smooth texture. While lacking some of the complex aftertastes that some Imperials have, the Drakonic more than makes up for it with excellent base flavor and texture making it one of my favorite Russian Imperials ever. While its flavor is too potent to pair well with most food, the Drakonic makes for an excellent dessert beer to enjoy during a lazy afternoon or as an after dinner treat. Axlock meter: 4.7
Arlock review: Drakes Brewing "Drakonic" Imperial Stout is honestly one of my favorite beers. It a full bodied, thick stout, with a very slight coffee taste. Its flavor is unparralleled to any other Imperial stouts. It generates a very slim head (when poured correctly) and has an extremely potent taste that SHOULD excite the taste buds into pouring another drink. Drakonic is not for the weak of heart, it is a thick beer with powerful intentions. Its high alcohol content speaks for itself. However, not to scare away any non-dark beer drinkers; It is an experience that should be had by all. I sincerely hope you enjoy this brew as much as I do myself. Axlock meter: 4.8

Hopefully you are going to review some "lighter" beers... Dark ales is not my personal preference. Still might try it since it's Axlock Approved.

I've had a ton of Californian microbrews but somehow haven't had anything from Drake before. I'll have to be on the lookout for them next time I'm in S.F. Keep up the reviews. Do pliny the elder!

So many great US microbrews :s Still so jealous that you guys get them regularly. And not for $20 a pint.
