Their damage is nice, but basically (at the moment) siege tanks have superior range. Combine this with elevator bio and a small flying viking army and Supernova can almost always choose his engagement.
Basically the moment Killer let this army walk across the map he needed Supernova to screw up the control or something.

Killer places a gateway at his own natural. Supernova goes CC first inbase. Nexus after Core for Killer. Supernova securing his natural and lands CC. Supernova getting 2rax, factory (siege tanks) and ebay. Killer getting 3gate robo. Killer adds 2 forges and Robobay. Not enough gas for all that right now. Supernova adds Starport. Moves out with 3 tanks and marines while attempting to drop which gets denied. First 2 Colossi out. 11:00 minutes now. Supernova added raxes. Killer gets his 3rd at 13min. Supernova with a big 2base push now. 3rd of Killer gets canceled. Supernova starts to siege at that 3rd base location where he the tanks can almost reach the main base. Vikings kill 2 colossi without getting a lot of damage. The contain of Supernova looks strong, now getting bunkers. Killer has problems moving army back and forth between natural and main.
Killer with upgrade advantage, but way less supply and bad position. Natural of Killer gets taken out. Supernova getting his 3rd during all this. Killer GGs.

Killer getting completely demolished by Supernova.

Well played by Supernova....completely dominated Killer

Quality got so bad I couldn't see a thing in the last battle. Hopefully GOM will at least match OSL video quality soon.

SuperNova has done this kind of stuff forever.
Hell he was one of the first guys to really introduce/develop tank supported pushes off 2 base vP

I always liked these types of builds. I always thought they were the most reliable way of making sure you get a good trade vs P before/against his 3rd.
To me, the thing that makes the most sense is that you are taking full advantage of your production, instead of spending tons of time and money on infrastructure.
The risk is always that you do fall behind in bio ups as you switch back to bio as P fleshes out his council ups and templar tech.

inspiring position of siege tanks, without immortals no way to get near those tanks and the tanks allow the vikings to close in on the colossus, what a clever planned out attacked with splitting up the toss with drops first. But i doubt the toss saw the army move out, so it was easy to get into the 3rd for supernova.
