A phobia is just a fear. There are many common ones such as acrophobia, claustrophobia, arachnophobia, and hydrophobia. *irrational* fear being afraid of getting shot by a sniper on your way to buy bread in Syria would not be phobic behavior.

Going downstairs into the basement to look for some item I'm in need of (eg, VGA cable for my extra monitor or whatever). I'm home alone and it's dark outside, so the only lights on are the ones I have on. As I go down the stairs, I turn on all the lights to give maximum visibility for whatever I'm in need of. Once I find the item (or some cases, can't locate the object), I return my trip up the stairs. As I return, I turn the lights off behind me, but instead of just casually walking up the stairs, I sprint! Almost as if something's behind me and I want to close the door on it's face, thus keeping it trapped in the basement. Other than the above, I have to have either pandora playing (I like it because of the timeout) or some other noise on when I fall asleep, because I can't fall asleep in pure darkness with dead silence. Because when ANY noise occurs, my body's hearing focuses on that, then starts wondering "what was that?". Then I start getting a little concerned since I can't see shit (cuz it's night, dur), and it takes about 5-10x longer to fall asleep. Where as when I'm so tired I literally pass out without realizing, or have some music/background noise playing, I fall asleep within 5 minutes.

-My biggest fear is if someone would start to take a blood sample from me, but remove the container and leave the needle so I would just slowly bleed to death. For this reason I always must be restrained while someone takes blood sample from me because I flip out and pull the needle out of my arm.

Also, same kind of thing but fear of my ribs being pulled out. I think I watch too much SAW.. not much I can do about that one but it really freaks me out. I'm weird. Edit: and trains, not violently but I avoid them whenever possible

A little while ago I tried playing Dead Space and the first few times anything happened I would scream almost toss the mouse across the room and pause a second later. That was a fun 30 minutes for me...

Good thing I'm 6'7'' and not being able to touch the bottom rarely comes. few years ago i went fishing near a stream and stepped on a bunch of muddy, floating leaves which i though was solid ground. fell as deep as almost to my neck and still dont recall touching the bottom. luckily there was solid ground to grab around me cuz even though i'm 6'2 it freaked me out thinking i could've just been completely swallowed there. when i pulled myself out i still couldn't tell how deep it was cuz of the mud.

I once heard of a phobia called phobophobia, the fear of fears, pretty messed up definition I find. But I would argue that it is the most common phobia people have. Edit: after searching Trypophobia, I'm afraid I might have that phobia too... Those were the most unsettling images I had ever seen in my entire life.
