I'd recommend you just use ATLAS or Translator Aggregator and go through it yourself over paying for it. Or just learn japanese. Also this belongs in blogs.

For translating all of those novels at a pace faster than the Baka-tsuki folks, you're looking at not a few thousand USD. I'd recommend you just use ATLAS or Translator Aggregator and go through it yourself over paying for it. Or just learn japanese. Also this belongs in blogs. have u read it? dunno if u know what porn is but its farrrrrrrr from porn lol unless you consider talking about breasts is porn then o no! but yea u can put this in blogs if a mod wants to. Thought maybe it'd be helpful if i was able to get it translated then if possible release to people on TL who wanted to read it too

We already have an anime thread in the general forums and he's basically just asking for help. What's there to discuss? If I were him, I would ask a mod to close it and create a blog entry about it.

Don't try to use conventional definitions to justify this kind of stuff. TL can make and enforce any rules they feel are correct or necessary, regardless of what a forum is "supposed" to be. This is not a place where you can make a thread to ask for help for every one of your worries and wants; it's a blog at best. @OP, I agree with Kaal, nobody is going to waste their time translating a horrible LN like DxD unless you shell out a ton of cash. There's plenty of other material out there that's far better.

Instead of sex there is fanservice to make porn actor feel ashamed, yeah.

No biggy fellas if a mod can close/blog then all good. If not no reason to be upset bout it lol To clarify, Telcontar and I aren't so much mad at you as we are at lundell who seems to think it's 100% okay to make a thread in general section asking for a specific, personal request.

Im pretty liberal so its gotta be pretty extreme for it to be porn but yea i already have the raws as well.

Even with a blatant disregard for readability (ie. focusing on speed), it takes me roughly 1 hour to translate 3 pages of a decently difficult novel. For better or for worse, stuff written for kids like HS DxD find themselves on the easier end of that spectrum, so let's say 1 hour for 6 pages. That would still lead to over 50 hours of translating (tougher stuff like Horizon would take me something akin to 800 hours, for reference' sake, while stuff in between, like ones I've translated before, generally average roughly 100 hours per book). Let's assume minimum wage: it would thus cost over 400$ to simply translate a book without regard for readability (it'd be readable, but would require significant proof-reading to make it presentable). 400$ for 50 hours of translating something you may or may not like, times the number of books you're expecting - that's not only a lot of time and effort, but also not a very productive (cost-wise) use of time, unless you really really really love the book(s) in question. The end result is that people who translate LNs either do it because they really, truly consider translation to be a hobby worthy of this significant time investment, they have ulterior motives for translating (want to learn Japanese etc.), or because they are absolutely infatuated with the book and are willing to slam that many hours into it. If you REALLY want someone, you're much better off asking in places like Animesuki and Baka-Tsuki. But the reality you're going to face is that 1) there aren't many people willing to put in THAT MUCH TIME (without quitting halfway through) and 2) there are books people would be more interested in translating. Edit: On February 20 2012 04:09 Eisregen wrote: How many kanji should you be able to read and understand for newspapers? 1200? :D Standard daily newspapers use an extremely high level of Japanese - you'd need around high school level of knowledge regarding kanji to really be able to go through without bumping into too many hitches beyond highly technical lingo (ie. corporate vocabulary et al).
