I just want to take some time to talk about something that really gets under my skin. Don't take anything in here too seriously, I'm (probably) just being melodramatic.
There is this guy in my class. He's this 25 year old guy with a baby face, walks with a weird hunch, has a cheeser moustache (and not because of Movember), and he speaks, likely without realizing, with an extremely condescending tone. Like he knows fuckin everything about anything. He's like a real life nerd version of Ned Flanders.
Every fibre of my being wants to punch him right in the dick.
If someone asks the instructor a question, he's always piping up before the instructor can open his mouth. If a student from another class in the campus comes to us for tech support (My class is the computer class), he hops right up with his chipper fucking attitude and his know-it-all inflections. He tries to correct the instructor whilst the instructor is giving lectures. He's been here less than half the time that I have been here, and he's got this superiority complex likes HE is the instructor and he owns the school.
And he doesn't even do his schoolwork! He's either strutting around being an awkward social butterfly, or playing games at his workstation. I walked by and saw him playing Star Trek: Bridge Commander during class today. I get that we're in a self-paced class, but seriously? I don't even know if I'm able to convey just how...dweebish(?) and/or annoying this guy is. But he really makes me angry.
I'm a grown up. I really shouldn't feel like I want to uppercut his groin, right? Why does this guy irritate me so much? Could there be some truth to that episode of the Simpsons where Lisa discovers that nerds produce a pheremone that makes bullies want to beat them up? Because my whole life, I was the nerd. I feel confused with this change!

Shaft punching is completely acceptable as long as you dont come anywhere near the balls in my opinion
go for it

It seems like you're attributing a lot of negative things to not so negative behaviors.
"He's this 25 year old guy with a baby face, walks with a weird hunch, has a cheeser moustache (and not because of Movember)"
Can he help his "baby face"? Are you going judge people on the way that they walk [what if he has a physical problem and has to walk with a hunch] or facial hair?
"and he speaks, likely without realizing, with an extremely condescending tone"
You answered this yourself. He doesn't realize it. He's not doing it on purpose.
"If someone asks the instructor a question, he's always piping up before the instructor can open his mouth."
Being enthusiastic and participating in class is a bad thing now?
"If a student from another class in the campus comes to us for tech support (My class is the computer class), he hops right up with his chipper fucking attitude and his know-it-all inflections."
Helping other people is bad?
"He tries to correct the instructor whilst the instructor is giving lectures."
Good teachers are generally happy if they are corrected. No one wants to teach incorrect material.
"He's been here less than half the time that I have been here, and he's got this superiority complex likes HE is the instructor and he owns the school."
Why is that relevant?
I can sorta see how you might see something like this as annoying, but... Iono it seems like you're being a bit harsh. The only thing I would be annoyed about is being condescending, but certainly not to the point where I would be physically aggressive.

It seems like you were always the nerd in class and got picked on at school. and now you're mad cuz this guy is even nerdier than you and everyone is picking on him at school. Sounds like jealousy.
|
It's an important skill to learn to ignore people that interrupt your normal, productive thought process. I remember back in school when I used to focus on these people and I would become overwhelmed with negative thinking. A lot of the time this resulted in missing large portions of class (due to being zoned out) and impacted my learning.
So basically, ignore them as best as you can. Sit in front of them in class so you don't have to see them. Sit as far away from them as you can so you're more likely to miss any annoying habits or mumblings. If they're speaking, completely tune them out. You'll be much better off, and the chance that you'll actually miss something of value that they say is (from my experience) incredibly negligible.
Good luck!

I know =/
Other people do things that he does but not on the same scale. I don't know what it is, but he just bugs me... Like I said, I don't know if I can convey it properly in a blog, I just needed to vent..

I can feel your pain, he sounds annoying as hell.

Yes and no. I was definitely a nerd that was picked on But, I don't get mad cause he's nerdier than me or anything like that. It's not jealousy either. He will interrupt a lecture with a correction despite the correction not being necessary because the instructor hasn't finished what he's saying, and if he let him finish, he would see that it makes sense. It's really more of this "I know everything, so I'm going to tell everyone what's up whether you want to hear it or not" attitude that bugs me.
We all like to help the other students with their tech troubles. It gives us an oppurtunity to put what we are learning to use. It would be nice if he left some for the rest of us so we can all get some practical experience. It would also be nice if he didn't just assume that he is the only person that knows how to fix problems. I had a lady bring her laptop to me recently for a factory reset. I started the process, went out for a smoke (People who have done this process know that you can totally have a smoke while it does this), and when I came back, he took the laptop, and had started a full reformat with a burnt Windows DVD.
So, not only did he just help himself to my work, but he whiped out the students recovery partition in the process.
ARGH.

Yeah for those guys it's not about contributing but about showing how smart they are... normally they are not and everyone in class is annoyed by them.

Beat him at his own game. Minus the playing games at workstation, not doing homework. Interrupt him when he interrupts the teacher. Assist others before he assists them.
A lot of smart-assess did it at my university/CEGEP. Now I'm in their class and I either respond with: "That's a really interesting tidbit, but I came here to be lectured by the teacher, unless you want to explain what bla bla bla bla is."
Got him on the first day, now sits down and shuts up.
Got another one in my political class who kept talking about how he was from the United States and his electoral system. I sat next to him and everytime he stood up, I stoop up with him and debated about whatever he would interject with: 2 classes and now he's gone.
Just beat them at their own game.

Just beat them at their own game. Those were all over the place during the first few classes of my bachelor and in CEGEP.
Guys read the news a little and they figure they know how it works.

Guy sounds annoying as hell. And he sounds like a massive idiot. You're right to be annoyed by him. A condescending know it all who doesn't know shit. Sounds like a total douche. He'll likely fail whatever it is you're studying and that'll be that In the mean-time just vent to friends.

You'll meet a lot of people like this, it's just life. You never truly know what goes on in someone's life that causes them to act the way they do. Live and let live, and look at the bright side this kid is just in a class with you, lucky you don't room with him or work with him ^_^

Torte is such a boss.....
On topic: Just try talking to him. All these things you told us that annoy you, mention them to him. And if he doesn't give a crap that he's being annoying, that's when you do the Torte advice and fuck him over

Had a guy exactly like this in one of my classes, turns out he was actually an employee at the school in the IT dept (I was a CS major), so a lot of the time he would challenge the professor based off of his experience in the field, and ended up looking like a total dick.
If it's that obvious, everyone feels the same way, including the professor. No point in worrying over it, but if you do punch him in the dick I'd love a blog to hear how that went

Wow TDL posted in my blog :D
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll definitely give it a shot. (Not the girlfriend stealing part - I'm pretty happy with the one I have ;D )

Life is a lot better and stressfree when you realize no one really cares about you and you do the same towards others.
His presence doesn't actually hurt you in any way so there's really no reason to care about his existence.
