you have revolts everywhere because you are a warmongerer and probably have high war exhaustion and infamy aside from that newly conquered provinces start with 10% revolt risk but this goes down over the course of 20 years or so. To get your stability up just go to the tab where you can see your income and max the slider for stability.
To get high level advisors you can use your magisters to commission paintings which gives you 5% cultural tradition. Open the second tab from the right side to do that. As soon as you hit 90% or higher cultural tradition you can get level 5-6 advisors of your choice
cavalry is pretty much what wins you battles in the early stages of the game but they get weaker as time goes on and when you can get firearms cavalry is useless. A good mixture of cavlry and infantry is 6 infantry units + 4 cavalry units together in one army.

You buy them in your culture menu by spending 20% of your current culture.

Thank you both.. Yet another Menu i didn't find...
But why do i get "some" anyway and how is decided what kind of?

well, what you get for free in game is pretty much just random event, unless you play with historical advisors

Hey guys, started playing this game because I read this thread. Really enjoying it, playing through as Castille.
But in the menu screen when trying to access my save the game is really really slow, maxes out my processor and windows says it isnt responding for a minute or so before it will finally load.
This is annoying me, is it normal or is there a fix?

check your save game folder - should be in your EU3 folder. if your saves are larger than like 15-20 mb each, then that may be the problem. issue occurs when you resign and then reload games, if you do that a lot, something with the achievements feature that inflates the size of save files (before i knew this, i had save files at 200 mb each). what you do is just to clean out achievements.txt under the achievements folder. not sure if that can salvage saves but will help in future saves.

I had the same exact problem. Download the 5.1 Patch, it fixed it for me.

Ahh thanks alot. I was nearly hitting 600 mb.
That fixed everything, will I have to keep emptying out that achievement folder? or is there a way to avoid this happening?

Anywhere I can find this? The site tells me to go to the game menu (isnt there) and Steam doesn't believe there is a 5.1

You cant see that so good on that screenshot but around 1500-1550 I had around 10 or more vassals because I pretty much beat down all the smaller states around me. That allowed me easy victories even against bigger countries because I could focus my army while my vassals swarm the enemies territories, which made them split up enough so that I could crush their armies on after another That gives you a lot of infamy though which will lead in turn to bad events(or so I have heard). And the smaller states are almost always allied with one of the bigger nations around you(that was the case when I played at least). So you have to be patient and wait for the big nation to engage a war and then take on the small one. Also, my stupid provinces don't convert to the national religion, no idea why -_- I didnt get any infamy because I only attacked other countries when I had the mission to annex or vassalize them and you get these missions all the time as Brandenburg My mission was to make Bohemia vote for me in the HRE which was impossible since they were leading it. Then I had to improve relations with another country which was impossible as well. And after that I was supposed to annex Pomerania. Well, I stopped doing them now since it's always dumb.
I know cheated at some point and sent Austria to war against several other nations which kept them occupied and allowed me to take over smaller nations. At some point all my production buildings started kicking in(always build them until the last one), so my income started growing exponentially. I also got the building which decreases infamy to wage even more war and after that I got the idea which decreases it as well(1.0 per year), so now I lose over 2.0 per year and have the casus belli idea as well(when they are a different religion). I can also attack them when they have the same culture and only get 2/4 infamy per territory which is awesome. Bohemia is pretty much dead now. I annexed them but they had a small island which was far away. So I waited for the HRE to complain and gave it back. I just punished Austria by a lot and they lost most of their territories in Europa. They started colonizing though. Scandinavia has problems of their own(-stabilty) and the only real threat is Burgundy which all their allies. My income is around 900 ducats or more a month which is pretty good. For my first time playing, it's not too bad, even though I cheated once, imo.

why would improving relations between 2 nations be impossible? Most of the time it just involves sending some gifts and you are done. And you can cancel missions just do that if the one you have is dumb. Some missions give you core provinces so you should do the missions.

no need to go to some shady torrent sites.
Open your steam folder then go to the folder of EU3 there should be eu3launcher.exe start this and you will get in the launcher window there you can download the patch safely

I had this mission as my second one, somewhat early on and I was happy that I never had to borrow money. That means there was nothing to spare to go from -200 to...I don't know. That's what I did, otherwise I would have never got the second(and then third) mission in the first place. Also, even if I didn't know, it shouldn't be surprising considering I just started playing this game and the tutorial was useless(only did two or so because they cover the most basic stuff).

The Pirate Bay? Shady? What world do you live in?
TPB is about as fucking "shady" as Hulu or Yahoo.
It's not like he's making a deal with the devil for torrenting a patch that he is unable to download for a game he bought.

i live in a world where sites like pirate bay have downloads with viruses in them and in a world where torrent sites are regulary checked by the government. so why take the risk when you can do it safely through the game itself

like I said some missions are stupid but you should do them none the less because there are missions which make it a lot easier to succeed when you play a state in the HRE because they allow you to evade all the negative things that come with conquering a HRE province.

This is not the thread for this, but Jesus fucking Christ you're an idiot.
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, so please stop giving direction to people about something you know nothing about.

Go into your Steam folders and find the EU3 launcher. It will give you the option to update the game.
Path should be something like C:/Steam/SteamApps/Common/EU3/ The launcher with the update option is EU3 and not EU3Game

seriously Fruscainte I have no clue why you get so worked up about this. I dont like downloading from these sites and that's it. And if you cant understand my point well maybe you are the idiot then.
