To clarify, I was bemoaning the fact that there were only 5 novels in the Foundation series. I would have liked a book between Second Foundation and Foundation's Edge. I have read Asimov's fiction extensively and am not pretentious enough to read his non-fiction.

The original trilogy then two prequels and two later novels I don't consider Foundation and Earth part of the series (though that might be snobbery on my part) and Forward the Foundation does count and I had forgotten it. So, I amend my statement. More then six books

More then six books Well, if you include the books he wrote in the 80s, it includes the robot books and from there spans the story over the foundation series back to R Daneel Olivaw (if i remember the name correctly). I found it interesting to see how Asimov managed to connect his different series into a single, connected series spanning millenia. While the Foundation series is still the most "epic" part of that series, all his books are still very interesting to read.
