This is a guide on running multiple instances of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, on Windows XP. What you take from the guide is completely up to you. The setup I mostly use is
- 3-4 ladder games at the same time “random team 4v4” or
- dota and a ladder game “random team 4v4” at the same time
Dota, Ladder + Show Spoiler + Ladder, Ladder, Ladder, Ladder. + Show Spoiler +
EDIT: halfway through writting this guide I simply googled "running multiple instances of warcraft3" and found this, http://www.d3scene.com/forum/warcraft-3-tools/19439-tftlaunch.html
I haven't tried it but it's probably an easier and takes less space = ( Uhh i was playing around with this, and its pretty much just skips part 1 and 4, : \ you need a different warcraft 3 folder to be able to play on different servers.
1.First you have to make multiple password protected Windows XP accounts. Make one for ever additional instance of Warcraft you want to run. + Show Spoiler + 2. Now you must copy the Warcraft III folder, most commonly found in "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III" You need to do this so you can play on different servers. + Show Spoiler + 3. Next paste the folder somewhere else on your computer, I chose "My Documents" + Show Spoiler + 4. Fourthly you now have to create a window mode shortcut for the newly created Frozen Throne.exe you just made A. Create Shortcut + Show Spoiler + B. Select properties + Show Spoiler + C. add "-window" to the end of the of the target line, so it looks like the below picture. + Show Spoiler + 5. Finally you now repeat step 2,3, and 4 until it equals the amount of instances you want to run, example, preform steps 2,3, and four, three times to be able to run four warcrafts at the same time on different servers.
6. Now right click the different shortcuts you have been making, select run as, and then select one of the new accounts you have made. "this is where the password part comes in, if you don't put a password even if there is no password, it doesn't work, at least for me anyways." + Show Spoiler + + Show Spoiler +
Thanks for reading, I hope this is helpful and any feedback or comments on this guide are welcomed.

What is the point of playing 4 ladder games at the same time? Griefing?

rofl, would be a nice way to increase the skill required for war3.
make opponents play a bo3 1v1 at the same time. Whoever wins 2games wins.

There is no way you can control 4 players to your fullest skills and potential. If you say 2, I might be convinced, but 4 is not possible. Thus you are griefing.

Except it counts towards your wins and losses; it also counts toward your allies' wins and losses. Thus ladder abuse and griefing.

If your enemy can identify which game you're throwing he can also minimalize his efforts in that game. Would end up in weird situations.

his point is that it would be a nice way to increase the skill required for war3 i don't see how his post could possibly have confused you

so you think drinking coffee while playing, or leaving midgame to piss and coming back is abuse too?
Cause it affects the result of the game?
Any non optimal play conditions are ladder abuse? Playing with a subpar keyboard is ladder abuse?

I remember a VOD of a war3 player winning a 3v3 tournament playing by himself.
Thats pretty baller haha.

Playing a bo3 at the same time would be really cool. Would be interesting to try with SC too =D. I'd actually like to see that happen to see how it would play out. Suppose two equally skilled players must distribute their efforts over 3 games. And suppose you could give a percent chance to the outcome of each game based on how much effort each player puts in it. Would there be an optimal effort distribution? Sounds like a game theory problem.
Unfortunately, more likely than not, we'll just see 3 lower quality games... with DT rapes happening a lot more often. (or whatever the WC3 equivalent is)
