Congratulations to Hwaseung OZ's Coach for Achieving 100 Wins!

Coach Jo Jung Oong, "The 100 wins were not accomplished alone"
"The upcoming 100 wins for our team is more important"

Hwaseung's Coach Jo Jung Oong has achieved 100 wins in the proleague.

On the 9th at 1 pm at the Shinhan Proleague 08-09 4th Round 5th week 1st match at MoonRaeDong Loox Hero Center, Hwaseung beat Airforce Ace 3:0. With this victory, Coach Jo Jung Oong joined CJ's Coach Jo Gyu Nam, Hite's Coach Lee Myung Geun, Samsung Khan's Coach Kim Ga Eul, and became the 4th coach to achieve 100 wins.

The following is an interview with Coach Jo Jung Oong.

You’re the 4th Coach to achieve 100 wins in the proleague.
- I really had no idea that if we won today I would achieve 100 wins. Because our 3 straight losses were such a big blow, I didn’t concern myself with records that much. However, today after we won, my players told me that I had accomplished 100 wins. It was only then I realized I had 100 wins. I’m incredibly grateful to all the players who worked hard to help me achieve 100 wins. I did not reach 100 wins by myself but completed it together with my players, and I believe the upcoming 100 wins for the team is more important.

Is there a specific player that stands out the most to you up until you achieved 100 wins?
- I still remember all the players who have left OZ, and I can’t say that I’m specifically thankful to any individual player – I’m just incredibly thankful to everyone who worked together with me. Also, after the establishment of Hwaseung as our sponsor, the team currently has 83 wins, so now I’m looking toward reaching 100 wins for the team.

Among the 100 wins, is there a particular victory that stands out to you?
- There are many games that I specifically remember. Among those, during the time when we gained a great sponsor and became established as a team under Hwaseung, I remember when the players won in the first game we played as Hwaseung. I will never forget watching Jaedong, Backho, Hiya, and Lomo step out to play in the team uniform.

You must also desire to be the first coach to achieve 200 wins.
- If I remain a coach, of course the desire to reach 200 wins will emerge but as I said earlier, rather than my personal 100 wins, because I am Hwaseung OZ’s coach, the team’s 100 wins are more important. If we prepare hard for games and continue to make progress, I believe it is quite possible to reach 200 wins in the future, and because victories are achieved along with the players, whether it be 200 wins or 300 wins, I will work my utmost hardest until then.

Recently the past 7 games have ended in 3:0 victories.
- Every year whenever it reaches April, strangely enough the team begins to slump in their game play. In terms of choosing entries and players to play, the responsibility lies entirely on me. As we prepared for the Winners League finals and Jaedong’s OSL finals, because of trying to grasp the new maps along with a fall in practice, I believe we fell into 3 straight losses. Afterwards we decided to work even harder and in doing so I believe our win streak today was possible.

SK Telecom, Samsung Khan, and CJ are right behind you – are you confident you can hold on to the number 1 spot?
- It’s been almost a year now with the season rushing towards its end, and the competition is really intense. In order to survive among the competitors, we will work our hardest so that we can pull forward until the very last game. Because there isn’t that great of a difference between us and the teams ranked 2nd and 3rd, we definitely won’t lose focus. Specifically, in the 5th round we will get great revenge on the teams we lost 0:3 to in the 4th round, so they should be worried. No matter what, we will firmly hold onto our top rank and go straight to the finals.

Any special last words you want to say?
- Although this was my personal 100 wins, I believe it wasn’t me but my players who made this possible. I won’t be satisfied with 100 wins as a coach, but will work my hardest for the team’s 100 wins and my own 200 wins, along with other goals in the future. I hope the players will look not at my 100 wins but focus on the team’s 100 wins and in doing so work harder. As I mentioned earlier, Hwaseung has 83 wins and it was possible due to the company persons who started this gaming fraction in the first place, and who physically and morally supported us – I want to say thank you to them. Also, I want to say happy birthday to Backho as well. Lastly, after our 3 straight losses I wasn’t able to go home for over 10 days, but nevertheless my wife stayed up all night praying in order to look after her bad husband… I want to tell her I love her.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

or fOrGG.

Rumors were floating around the Korean community when Anytime went to the Air Force early because of tensions between him and Coach Cho. Same thing with fOrGG except he transferred to KTF. Apparently these tensions revolved around Anytime's criticisms of BackHo and how he believed that he didn't take care of all of his players, only the players he felt were super good (cough Jaedong cough).

I guess this interview somewhat confirms that. Really sad because Anytime was the sole reason why Plus was transformed from a really, really crap team with no sponsors into what it is today.

I find it so funny when people give hard critiques to things they have no type of real knowledge on. They pick up a few small rumors and then blow it out of proportion.

I would personally find it strange if all players in all teams and coaches would have a great synergy and connection. It's only natural that some people just dont click. We've seen July having issues in diffrent teams, we've seen Bisu having similar problems and changed teams.

Oz is probably the only team that hasnt bought their lineup (not only but hey) and has worked it up from the ground. How come this isnt considered when people say that the coach only cares for the better players (JD) in the team.

Weather he is a shitty coach or not in whatever sense, I just call bs when people think they actually know something on this matter.

Backho and Anytime didn't get to play one another - the match ended in 3 sets with Hiya, Jaedong, and Lomo winning for Hwaseung.

If you are directing this at me, I know my progaming inside out, I've been following e-Sports in Korea closely for the last six years or so;

On the topic of Bisu's transfer, he switched teams because SKT bought him off MBC (for a hefty transfer fee of 200,000,000+ won), and MBC simply could not match SKT's contract offer. There was nothing to do with 'conflict' or 'strife' between MBC and Bisu.
