Chubbytoss is finally gone, at least from the Liquibet image database. Judging by Jangbi's gameplay, he has been gone for alot longer. This month's Kespa ranking fields him as the 8th, going up four spots. His recent record against Zerg shows him at 9-1. The players he loses to nowadays are few: BeSt every now and then, hyvaa in a recent Acematch, Light Cheese in the OSL, which gave him an unfortunate early exit before even getting to Group Stage (where Light failed horribly).
Jangbi first burstout was related to PvT. With some mediocre results lately, he still stands at almost 65% in that matchup. His macro is fearful. His storm-blankets are notorious. His reaver micro close to perfection.
But lately, his PvZ went onto a ridiculous streak. You could fault his opposition, playing Yarnc in four games, Shark twice, but Jangbi playing PvZ in late 2008 is something quite different from Jangbi PvZ in 2007. He does nothing flashy - mostly standard FE openings with corsairs, going straight for Reavers then, sometimes (vs. Shark on Colosseum e.g.) he busts out a surprising zealot rush. He executes it with grace and strikes the weak points. Somehow he has figured out, how his beloved Reavers, a flock of fast Zealots, and a healthy group of Corsairs blend together.
Jangbi's play can be frustrating at times. When he is feeling comfortably, he is executing like a young god. His BOs are refined, his management great, his harass relentless. When he gets thrown off his plan, this changes. He starts looking insecure, playing, but not really gaining ground. Jangbi is the type to go into a game, take the lead and keep it. He is not the fighter who will come back and reclaim the lost territory. How far will this take him in a Bo5?
It was September when YArnC had a massive change in his practice schedule. Previously it read:
- Beat my brother
- Practice some more
suddently it changed to:
- Kick Flash out of the MSL
- Carry Team in Proleague
- Win the MSL
Luxury was sold to KTF, and the "other" twin stepped up. And how he did. He is currently 4-2 in Proleague, survived the Ro16 in a nerve-wrecking ZvZ against the up and coming type-b, and recently even hunted down the "Destroyer" in an intense Proleague match. As if only a final spark was missing, Yarnc burst out. Assessing his strength at the moment is like judging an upcoming super power - you know it when it reveals itself, previously you just see wild strength, trying to be channeled into orderly paths. He climbed four ranks in the Kespa ranking, putting him to #16 for the time being. But where does the rise end?
Predictions
+ Show Spoiler +
Out of some personal fancy, I root for Jangbi. But I am scared, about his nerves, about the maps, about anything. If he doesn't win before the 5th, he won't, so I am predicting a 3-1. If you want a more precise preview, consult Hot_Bid.
Destination favors straightforward play with a twist. Jangbi should look strong here. 1-0
Both are without a loss yet on Byzantium. Still, Jangbi to win: 2-0
Medusa makes all races look helpless with the cliffed lurkers. 2-1
Narrow channels, storms wiping the map clean: 3-1
