After Socke's departure it looked like Team Alternate will leave SC2 completely. Yesterday they announced Kai "ZeroCool" Schmidt as their new SC2 manager and today they added 3 players to their lineup: KnowMe kauP Monty
Full news (in German) here.
Translation (in excerpts):
With KnowMe Team ALTERNATE could sign a talented player who has 14 years of experience in e-sports. KnowMe reached Grand Master League several times as Protoss and 2 top 12 rankings in the ESL Pro Series last year. In addition to streaming his own games, KnowMe is also involved in scene casts, as a blog writer and caster.
Kaup is the 2nd new addition to the SC2 team. The 20-year-old Terran is regularly active in cups and could already achieve some strong finishes. In the EPS of last summer he could achieve a top 10 placement. Currently Kaup has been seen active in the Germany Cup.
Monty is one of the newcomers of last year. The Grand Master Protoss has great potential with his 19 years, which he showed already at the IEM Qualifier and the EPS Winter Season 2013 where he only just missed the Top 8. Monty is active in the SC2 community, you can contact him on his stream and he can be found in various German Twitch channels.

(edit: need more zergs)

Nice to see that they still have SC2 plans! Don't know much about the players, except that I once saw a game of kaup I believe, so let's see how things are gonna shape up! gl to all involved
|
i suppose socke simply was expensive or they couldnt outbid xmg, pretty weird to replace him with a worse toss otherwise
but gl i guess, kaup bas been okish for years now
|
glad to see monty on a team
|
Glad to see new opportunities for newer players.
|
New players! Hopefully Team Alt can nurture them well enough and turn them into great players like Socke.

Alternate Downsizing hard, with this step they basically accept going into meaninglessness.
|
hm, they could have aquired better players. Why not getting Showtime, Krass or Gungfupanda?
|
plz add showtime
|
Nice to see that Alternate is not shutting down completely, being a team that has been around in esports for so long already.

But none of them are in a real proteam, afaik. Agreed, I don`t kow a lot about the contract situation of the mentioned players but I´m really wondering why Alternate did not try to be more ambitious with the squad. I mean they used to be the fiercest competitor of Mouz for years.

Socke had a better offer, so he took it - it seems like this is only their first batch of players, so there are more incoming for aTn. These might not be top level players, but they're still pretty good, and can hold their own in European team leagues, the German EPS and minor EU cups..

agreed, the professional was a bit dumb from my side. Still those are teams that I usually would rank significantly lower in the esport-clan pecking order(ESC might be pretty much on par)

You can find the post or do you just make that up?
Hm, shit. I could swear I read something like that in one of the threads about Hyun being owed some money, and him also saying that it's not a lot of money and they are in no legally binding contract in the first place when asked why he doesn't persue legal matters. But seriously, why cannot I find it...? Maybe I am getting senile...
