Today during the MLG operated WCS America Invite-Only Challenger League Qualifier, a situation arose due to an MLG admin error that warrants clarification. Players involved included Miya, Demuslim, Moosegills, and Sasquatch.

After having a Bye in Winners Round 1, Miya showed up to his Winners Round 2 Match late, resulting in MLG admins making him forfeit the match and instructing him to play a Losers Round 2 Match against Sasquatch. Miya went on to beat Sasquatch.

Shortly after Miya’s victory, MLG was notified that Miya had shown up late to Winners Round 2 due to an MLG admin providing him with an incorrect start time for his match. MLG immediately retracted Miya’s Winners Round 2 forfeit to give him the Winner's Bracket placement he deserved.

Miya’s manager advised Miya to accept his Winners Bracket forfeit feeling that any other outcome would be unfair to Demuslim and Moosegills, the other players involved in the subsequent matches.

After Miya conceded the Winners Round 2 victory to Moosegills, MLG let all Miya/Demuslim/Moosegills/Sasquatch results stand. The current bracket is available here.

Additionally, MLG terminated the admin who originally supplied Miya with the incorrect match information.

We apologize to the players and those impacted by the admin errors.

Depends on what the admin's history with MLG, as well as his prior performance. But MLG has already taken a lot of heat for poor admins, and changing some of the people causing all these problems is a good start.

You made the best call in a pretty tricky situation. Shame there was a mistake in the first place to cause it all. I still think killing the admin was a little harsh though.

Admin was terminated LOL

Some guy made a mistake and lost his job. Not funny.

"Terminated" could be interpreted in a .... sinister way, let's put it like that

That said it's good to see they're at least doing something about this whole mess. Rather than just spouting the usual "we'll do better next time etc" bullshit.

Pretty shitty situation because I don't think there is a fair way to resolve it without at least one player getting shafted.

The Sundance Solution a.k.a "I fired that guy".

It does sound like they killed him remotely or something, to be honest.

the thing thats so odd about this situation is that its not even that simple. in case of making a mistake i would be against firing someone for a first time problem. but the time and date notifications were emailed, which means he went out of his way to misinform a player of the situation... ;/

That's 2 people now. I didn't mean to imply that MLG fired somebody because of TL, if that's what people interpret from my post. What I meant was that it's interesting how people bitch and demand people lose their jobs when shit happens, but when somebody actually loses their job, it' suddently "whoa, that was a bit too far". I don't support firing people, just to note.
