I like the measure.

They shouldn't let only 1 admin take care of such important thing by himself.
In any big organizations, at least 2 people review information before releasing them.

Well the overall result is that Moosegills went on to lose to Neeb in the losers bracket, and Miya went on to lose to Top. If this never happened, Miya would face DeMuslim, and the loser would then go on to presumably eat Neeb, and Moosegills would probably have been fodder for Top.

In the end we have some unknown progressing farther into the tournament than he otherwise might have if the error had not occured, and Miya getting dropped from the tournament having started in the winners bracket and only losing one match, rather than two.

While having Miya sent to losers bracket might be the best action overall, Genna should let MLG to make that decision. I feel like she should be acting in the interests of her own players regardless. MLG should take the fall for whatever decision they make.

Who knows, maybe Miya isn`t salty about his own boss not defending him.

Thanks for letting us know and taking steps to ensure things dont happen again.

Admins need to be informed and give correct information. Correct decision, imo.

Just because he is unknown doesn't mean he deserves it any less, it's a bad situation and MLG is to be blamed.

I don't know. But since the second match between Demuslim and Moosegills had already started, there wasn't a lot that could be done that wouldn't hurting someone. MLG took the hit and fired one of their staff, which is never a fun thing to do. Miya had to go to the losers bracket, but I get the feeling that TB and Genna were not wild about screwing over other players for the sake of one of theirs. Miya may not have been wild about the idea either.

It sucks, but after all this is done, MLG, Axiom and EG all have to deal with each other later on. Its not like they can ignore each other or just walk away. Burning bridges and being unwilling to compromise is generally a bad practice, so I am glad they took the route that they did.

Nice to see MLG doing something other than just apologizing for mistakes for once, even if it shouldn't have ever happened.

Today during the MLG operated WCS America Invite-Only Challenger League Qualifier, a situation arose due to an MLG admin error that warrants clarification. Players involved included Miya, Demuslim, Moosegills, and Sasquatch.

After having a Bye in Winners Round 1, Miya showed up to his Winners Round 2 Match late, resulting in MLG admins making him forfeit the match and instructing him to play a Losers Round 2 Match against Sasquatch. Miya went on to beat Sasquatch.

Shortly after Miya’s victory, MLG was notified that Miya had shown up late to Winners Round 2 due to an MLG admin providing him with an incorrect start time for his match. MLG immediately retracted Miya’s Winners Round 2 forfeit to give him the Winner's Bracket placement he deserved.

Miya’s manager advised Miya to accept his Winners Bracket forfeit feeling that any other outcome would be unfair to Demuslim and Moosegills, the other players involved in the subsequent matches.

After Miya conceded the Winners Round 2 victory to Moosegills, MLG let all Miya/Demuslim/Moosegills/Sasquatch results stand. The current bracket is available here.

Additionally, MLG terminated the admin who originally supplied Miya with the incorrect match information.

We apologize to the players and those impacted by the admin errors.

In my part of the real world you don't do one mistake (which btw is not a big one, just had big consequences) and get fired. Every court here would punish the employer. What we don't know is, if there is much more other mistakes/problems with his work before.

And the term "terminate" might be the correct one for the US; it would not be in many other countries, so maybe that's part of the complaints about the term.

No company would publicly brag about "we fired the one responsible" here either. Different cultures I guess.

Then you lack some sense of humour.

I don't really need to know they fired the guy to be fair, but i don't think it's too much. It's not only compromising the tournament brackets a huge misstep, it also screws players and if left unpunish could over time, become a problem with admins doing that kind of stuff to give better chances to other players on purpose.

Hmm im unsure i think if it was a genuine first time mistake by the admin then perhaps firing them is a bit harsh - the teams all knew when to show up they had been told? please correct me if i'm wrong - Miya was double checking with the guy who THEN gave the wrong time - its both the teams fault and the admins - i mean should Genna Bain be fired or "terminated" (lol) for dropping the ball also- i mean obviously the information didnt match up. Should Miya be "terminated" for not realising the information was different and triple checking ? No. Ofcourse not. People make mistakes.

MLG did the right thing by terminating the admin. I feel like you guys are so anti-MLG at this point no matter what they do makes you salty.

MLG wants to be a premier hub for esports and if this type of error is allowed to go unpunished you're going to see more of the same old. It's about time MLG turns the corner.
