I feel that MLG wants to just point the finger at someone so they won't get the blame.

Admins are instructed in a certain way, and i'm sure there is a line somewhere that if you're late for a game and you haven't been able to contact the opponent in X time it's marked as no show, otherwise it will delay the brackets too much. I don't see how an admin could come up with this stuff on his own. Not really sure if this admin messed up or was it panic decision to revamp the brackets.

Atleast the players that aren't qualified for this season will know better then to sign to NA qualifiers rather then EU, latency might screw you up but atleast system isn't working against you.

You are pro, you have an issue, you need to make a choice. Good job by MLG on this one.

As many others have said, it was not really possible to resolve that situation without screwing someone. The reaction here is so much biased by the people involved, that it sickens me. It would be the other way around if we would switch Miya and Demuslim's places.

I completely agree with this. I oftentimes feel that this forum is strongly foreigner biased. If Miya and Demuslim switched places, there would definitely be a heavy outroar here, especially since Demuslim is one of the few competitive foreigners left in WCS NA.

I've heard from unreliable sources that Angel Munoz is now hiring the NASL Sound-Guy, MLG Admin-Guy and ESEA Rogue-Programming-Guy to set-up a new Console FPS World Tour called the Starless League sponsored by Bit-Coins Mining unlimited.
Curious that we spend more time congratulating people who have succeeded than encouraging people who have not. 파이팅! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ"

Whoever was in charge of the admin should have made sure he was doing his job properly and knew all the times. The guy in charge of the person in charge of the admin should have made sure he was doing his job properly.

So I blame MLG and their poor chain of command. A quote from my dissertation because I can.

"These Shinto beliefs are still present in Japan to this day. Most businesses are set up using a hierarchy. Even though positions of power are still highly respected the unfortunate circumstance that something goes wrong would evidently mean the collective is to blame. 'For example, when Japan's famous Shinkansen (Fig. 1.3) "Bullet Train" is late, every employee from the engineer to the conductor, hostesses, and ticket sellers feels responsible and will apologise profusely to delayed passengers. Once atonement is made, the shame ceases and the burden it imposes is lifted.' (Littleton 2002 p.59)."

I think that MLG should stop DQ'ing and issuing forfeits to players so quickly and take their time to resolve these things instead of making what seems like snap decisions. This isn't "Gamebattles" anymore. This is the WCS America Premier & Challenger leagues we're talking about. You shouldn't run it like you would run a weekly online cup.

In other words, I don't care what the official "Gamebattles" rules are that they've been using. They need to exercise some judgment and bend the rules a little when they need to be bent, and make sure they're making the RIGHT judgment calls, so that Comm doesn't get DQ'd one round before qualifying for Premier League (and now he's not even going to be in Challenger League). And so that Miya doesn't get DQ'd for showing up late to a match - I'm thinking they could have delayed his match and tried to contact Axiom's management, aka Jenna Bain (or alternately, TotalBiscuit). This is not some random Diamond NA Protoss player in the first Premier Qualifiers we're talking about (that's me, by the way...). This is Axiom.Miya, Korean pro on a foreign team.

MLG, please slow down and consider the bigger picture?

EDIT: I just read Genna Bain's account of the situation. It changes some of my assumptions, but anyways, if you want to read it it's here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=411147

so MLG admins are AIs, that would explain the lack of common sense.

Sad that someone lost a job though. And really unfortunate that no one payed attention and woke Miya up in time.

MLG strikes again. Do they just walk on the street and randomly hire people? Can't wait to see what the next fail from them will be, so gentlemen place your bets.

We clearly don't have the information needed to make such conclusions. For all we know, the admin giving incorrect information might have just brain farted at the moment he wrote the message to Miya, and actually knew the correct time. Those in charge of the admins should of course check up on them regularly, but there's a limit to the degree they can micro manage.

It's not up to us to blame anyone until we have sufficient information to do so. Maybe they fired the wrong guy, but we don't know that.
