Hi TL. I'm opening this topic to ask you if you've encountered the same issue as mine. If you press CTRL+F while having selected a unit or a building, the screen will be centered on that selected unit/building. I find it quite useful to center the screen on main bases before camera-hotkeying them. Now, with the 1.5 patch, this key combination only works occasionally. Most of the times the screen keeps following the selected unit/building until I click on the minimap, other times nothing happens. Any solutions?
Edit: There are two threads on this bug both on EU and US Starcraft 2 forum, please bump if you have the time. EU: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/5071487208?page=1#2 US: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6232903600

nope, thats how its supposed to work. always has, always will.

wait, wasn't ctrl+f the team color changer?
|
it was always ctrl+shift+f but sure blame everything on the patch eventhou it still works

No, team color changer is ALT+F.

Ctrl+shift+f is to follow the selected units, ctrl+f is supposed to center the screen on that unit. I can ensure you that before 1.5 it worked just fine.

That is not how it worked before. Previously Ctrl+F wasn't a toggle. You pressed Ctrl+F and it centers on the unit you selected. If you click on another unit without holding down ctrl+f the camera would not follow whatever it is you selected.
I know this because I used ctrl+f every game to center my hatches before saving their camera position.
In 1.5, ctrl+f seems to function as a toggle, and a buggy one at that. After you hit ctrl+f, it centers the camera on the unit you've selected and occasionally continues to follow anything else you click until you hit ctrl+f a couple of times to toggle it off. It's clearly a bug and hopefully Blizzard fixes it asap.
I created a bug report on the us battlenet forums, please bump it if you can spare the time.

Control shift f was to keep the camera centered without having to press anything afterwards. Like a constant queue of control f

You can still click on the unit portrait for the same effect, right? I mean, it's a bit slower and more awkward, but you only have to save camera positions for your hatcheries a few times a game, so it shouldn't be so bad.

Yes I can, but it is still a bug should therefore be fixed.

Oh God this is so damn annoying, like the OP I use this function every damn game to save location hotkeys on my hatcheries. Even if there is an alternative way to achieve the same thing, it's muscle memory for me now so it's still throwing me consistently. Seems really bizarre to me that an interface patch can have so many odd ingame bugs like this. Really hope it gets sorted soon.

why don't you just hotkey your main base then double tap the hotkey to center, then camera bind it.

That's what I'm doing as a work around for now. But like I said in my last post, when you've been doing something a certain way for many many games it's just muscle memory to do it, it's quite jarring for it to suddenly not work, consistently throws you off. And a bug is a bug, still needs to be fixed even if there is a (slower) work around.

Why would you do that when you can just double tap the hotkey?
|
Or just click on the unit/building portrait to center it

Who says I have each one of my hatcheries hotkeyed? I use location hotkeys a lot more than control groups. So much so that I've jigged around my hotkey setup to make them a lot more accessible. So hotkeying each individual hatchery just so I can then double tap it to center it for saving the location is a hell of a lot slower than simply hitting ctrl+f.
But then, why does it matter to you the way I do it? The point is, there's a bug, and we want it fixed. That's all. I have my preferences, you have yours.
(I like your name btw)

Clicking on the building may be viable as a temporary workaround, but it's so much slower than using CTRL+F . As Floydian said, hotkeying every hatchery (or nexus in my case) on a different hotkey isn't that efficient.

Hi guys. I got the problem with 1.5 patch. It didnt install yet and when I try to login it is what I see: Battlenet is temporarily unavailable the game will try to restart. What can I do? Is there any websitefrom I can upload this patch or I have to reinstall the game?

I changed ctrl+f to mouse4. Better get used it cause i think this bug will stay here for a long time. I browsed the battle.net forums, it seems like blizzard doesn't even know about this bug cause i guess not many players use this hotkey and its certainly not used by blizzard employees

Is it for casting/observing games? I can't imagine why would anyone use that in game :D
|
sigh... Its used when you have multiple buildings/units in one control group that are not on the same screen(not in the same field of view). Examples: 7 Zerg hatcheries in one control group you want to go to one. 10 rax in one control group you want to go to the one that is badly positioned and the tech lab wont build on it...
