Special Thanks to Charger for the updated OP and banner!
This is a thread dedicated to Day Z, the highly engrossing persistent world zombie survival mod for ArmA II. This mod is single handedly responsible for bringing ArmA II to #1 on the top 10 biggest sellers list on steam for more than a month running.
TSBspartacus has set up a dedicated room for Day Z on the TL teamspeak server, so check in there if you're interested in teaming up:

OK guys the teamspeak city channels are set up. Move there when general chat is busy or whenever you want. If its empty, no need to go there since no-one else is in. Common courtesy to announce you are moving there so people in the chat know that city is now a danger-zone + Show Spoiler + Anyone not in the city group but in the city, be prepared to be shot on sight by TL members that are in the group. As far as defining the boundaries, just the general area, so for cherno anywhere between Balota and Prigorodski (including Prig though since its basically part of cherno) and all the surrounding hills. As a general rule, if you can see any part of the city, get in the chat.
I felt like I was done with gaming (except SC2 spectating of course), but then I found this through the twitch streams. Wow.. I'm seriously hooked. Getting a buddy or multiple buddies together, and you have one of the most amazing experiences ever. I'm exhausted after playing for nearly 10 hours today. I was basically a total noob yesterday, and now we are camped on the east coast near the NE airfield with MP5s, AKMs, blood packs, grenades, and countless other stuff (map, compass, watch, etc). Simply put.. there is NOTHING else like this game. We are at the beginning of a gaming revolution...
By the way.. the buddy I'm playing with is someone that I met today in the game. He was completely new, but we eventualy hopped into steam voice chat and forged an entirely new friendship through this epic journey of a game. So even if you don't have someone to play with, I highly suggest playing and finding people in game. There isn't much to lose when you first spawn, so it's not that big of a deal to attempt to trust/form relationships.
Be sure to watch the DayZ mod. Pick someone and watch for a bit to get a feel for the game. You'll quickly realize that this is something very special. Also, one thing the OP didn't specifically mention (it's in the links) is that when you die, you lose everything. There really isn't anything in this game that isn't realistic. Even when people are killed, it doesn't say by who.. murders within groups can be mysteries. This is real life happening in a zombie apocalypse.
You quickly learn to be cautious of others in this game. It's one thing to be slinking around avoiding the zombies, but it's another when you know a bandit (player character marked for repeatedly murdering other player characters) could be hiding anywhere, ready to take you down for your precious hoarded goods.
This looks amazing, been watching some videos on youtube. Only a mod could ever do this, no way a full release would ever have such freedom for the player to do as they want, or have such punishing survival mechanics.

For some reason I imagined Valve hiring these guys to make a version on L4D or something. Probably because of dota2 and CS:GO
We should get a team liquid group together in game! I've only been playing solo (and I'm still a big noob) so it would be cool to have people to play with

You need both ArmA II and the expansion, each on their own is about 15 bucks each, get the joint operations one for 25-30 bucks total.
I take it no one plays on Arma 2 Free?
Apparently some people made it work on Free Arma + Operation Arrowhead, but I'd rather have the full game. OA is only 10eur cheaper than Combined Operations anyways.
Wow, this game looks really cool. I got bored with ''unrealistic'' zombie games like Left 4 Dead, this is really innovative. Too bad I'm playing Diablo 3 right now. I'm pretty sure I'll never try this mod.
