basically, you just type the passage that appears and it measure your WPM for you. you can choose between 3 modes:
1. racing with others 2. practicing 3. racing with your friends
1. this mode is quite fun, it allows you to race with others (duh) and see who will come out on top with the same passage. it's kinda like laddering, because you'd be matched with people of your WPM range. expect to hover at around 50% winrate if your WPM is not above 100
Spoiler: "Cheating" + Show Spoiler +if you've noticed already, if you race with someone and the guy leaves (or all the other guys leave if you're racing more than one person), a win won't be registered even if you complete the race and it shows that you are in first place. some kind of bug, i'm not too sure. but this is the kind of thing you have to bear with. even if your wpm is the best in the world, don't expect a 100% winrate
for those who leave during races, your 'race completed' will not increase by 1. it will just stay the same. hence, you can achieve 100% winrate by leaving everytime you're losing.
2. this mode is for people who don't really wanna race with others (perhaps to avoid pressure). note that even if you play in this mode, a 'race completed' will still be registered, and no win will be given. if you spam this mode (like me), you'll have a 0% winrate. this mode only requires you to wait 5 seconds before the race starts, whereas in the first mode, you have up to 15 seconds before you can start.
3. click it, a URL will appear which you can send to your friends or people in this forum! then you'll race like you would in the first mode. 'race completed' and 'race wins' count the same way as the first mode.
some cool stuff to take note:
1. you can change EVERY particular at any time, all you need to do is to click the blue dude icon below your name at the top right corner of your screen. name, email, everything. that's why you see retardedly long names on the high score screen.
2. there's a 'pit stop' function to add friends, message people, and check news. they've recently added this feature only, don't expect new updates to come too soon. because, this website wouldn't need much maintenence
3. there's a forum, we can invade the forum and talk about esports and let the people who do not know about esports know it!
4. you can upgrade your account at the pitstop, basically the few benefits you'd get is to be able to edit your profile fully (can change display picture, add more details in 'about me' section) all at the low cost of $12 per year. personally i didn't, because i find it quite pointless.
PM me and I'll add all your names into the list below if you play this! PM me also to tell me to add any other useful stuff in the OP!
sorry if this doesn't qualify as a game to add! admin can take this down anytime you want...

Fun little game for sure. Currently, after my first 6 games, my average is 92 WPM (best = 108). I make too many mistakes throughout that slow me down because I have to delete so much (often times I have to delete a full word).
Add me to list, name is Bairemuth in game as well.

Add me to list, name is Bairemuth in game as well. accuracy over speed if you want consistency :D you can go for speed if the passage is short, pays off well with like x1.3 of your average :o

Yeah I've focused on lowering errors and now after 50 games my average has increased to 97 with last 10 at 102 (best = 123). My biggest troubles comes with capitals, often times I will capitalize the second letter on accident, espeically whenever the second letter is 'o' (for whatever reason). Anywho, this can be overly addicting, but also good practice to improve speed

Holy crap this game is fun!!! Thanks for sharing!
add me! Arathore

I play this sometimes, but when I get a lot of mistakes in a row I get pissed and quit haha. My best was 115wpm and I hoover at 90ish.
|
For me it highly depends if it is one of my on-days or one of my off-days. On-days i can get up to 85-90wpm Off-days i hover around 70
|
i go on this all the time to practice. When i started my average was 60ish. 1k races later and an i average 95-110 everytime. ^__^ its so nice to see improvement and i love how it uses full punctuation and direct quotes instead of just word after word. Makes you learn your keyboard better.
Tip - work on accuracy then speed. If you try to go fast you will end up just hitting the wrong buttons, and having to back space which really kills your WPM.
My best race is 129WPM
|
I average about 120 but sometimes I can max out at ~130 for 10-15 seconds. I usually don't go on it though; old, shitty laptop keyboard makes it hell to play.
Edit: Aw I just went on as a guest and hit 138.. T-T

Currently playing as TheVelveteenMaggott. 122 best at present, hoping to break the current top5 soon.

Not to be mean, but is that 150 wpm typing like you did that passage, or with proper punctuation?
Averaging 120 wpm, played a few races, only got matched with people who managed 40 wpm, then quit. Fun game for people learning to type faster, I guess.

That seems the point of this thread ...to match ppl of equal wpm.
I used to play this alot. I was around 80-90. Saw a Jaedong there once, surely it's someone from TL.

Fun game. Played a few times - averaging 100, peaked at 112.
I think I can definitely hit 120, though. Seems every time I miss a comma somewhere and have to go back and fix it.

Yeah, it *really* likes its comma's. If you've done one of the tests they force you to do when you get 100+ WPM, you'll have seen how much it in facts hates people who have trouble with telling comma's from full stops. I failed many a time due to finding out I'd forgotten a comma and then going back to fix it.
Ah well, guess I'm not a perfect typer.

Peaked only at 90, difficult if you're almost exclusively typing in German. qq
|
Wow, apparently Im the slowest typist on TL.
|
Nice, just peaked at 132 and knocked out 149 with 99% accuracy on the cheater/speed-test after.
Like a boss!
|
Tried this a couple of times, averaging around 130ish so far. Not entirely sure how it calculates accuracy since if I make an error I backspace and fix it but I guess that still counts as an error. Odd.
