some of you might know where I'm coming from because you've read some of my other girl problem posts.
okay so basically i'm back from my high school semi-formal (age 16), and things did not go well. quick synopsis. -i have been interested in girl for long time -been doing prep work towards her but you know, i'm like the really shyest guy ever so never made an actual move -semi formal i knew she was going thought it would be my chance to make a move there - during the dance, one of my best friends started working on her, so i'm like, wtf he's never expressed interest before -he continues hitting on her, beats me fair and square because he's bolder, and asks her successfully and has 2 dances with her -i can't tell if she's interested in him or not -i'm thinking, fuck this is my one of my friends if i go after her now he'll be damn mad like i'm trying to steal her
My Question WTF should I do? am I screwed? I'm planning to tell her AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (like, monday) that I'm crazy for her and ask her straight up if she has any interest in him or me. Is this irrational? Wrong play? Setting myself up for disaster? I can't wait anymore. I am already hitting my head against the wall for being so shy tonight and missing all my opportunities. Waiting seems like death for my chance.
Please.

Be careful in your course of action cause you may lose a friend.
|
If you are really "crazy" for her, just tell her straight up "I love you" etc. etc.
You are only 16, so you'll probably meet plenty of other girls that you'll like in the future, so no worries, really.
High school relationships don't usually work out anyways, so if you only want to start a relationship to see what it is like, then by all means, start one. If you really love her, as in wanting to marry her or w/e (which is HIGHLY unlikely), then think twice before doing anything.

I think you better tell your friend how you feel about this girl, see how he reacts ...depending on that decide if the girl or the friend is more important...

hey Cambian, thanks for great post i agree with everything you said. you really think that is the best way? I was thinking about it and I hope it wasn't my brain spewing out illogical nonsense, so naturally i reached out to my lifeline, TeamLiquid for life-changing advice.

Go for it. You've got nothing substantial to lose, and you'll really regret it if you don't. If this guy is your friend, he'll understand, especially if you tell him how you've been wanting her for some time now. If he does get bitchy, just tell him to man up. Two dances isn't a huge deal.
The trick is not to be a spastic weirdo when telling her you like her. Do it in a cute way and never let her see you falter. The one thing about being shy is that you have the ability to overcome it.

well, if your friend didnt know, then i cant say hes in the wrong to be hitting on her. my personal opinion would be to talk to your friend, and tell him how you feel about her, and that he just fucked over your chance for true love. rub it in if you can. seriously though, you should probably talk to him, and then talk to her. but thats just the way id do it. you definitely have to tell them both how you feel. ill end this post by saying this: boyfriends/girlfriends may not always be there, but your friends will. so dont jeopardize youre friendship over a girl. there are more fish in the sea, but you can just replace a friend. waiting any longer wont make your situation any better though, so call your friend and tell him whats up, and the next time you see this girl, ask her if she has a minute to talk, and just be up front about it. theres no point in beating around the bush, so just come right out and tell her that youve been very interested in her for a while. tell her why you like her.
i dunno what else to say though, so i wish you well. <3

It's a crush... You'll get over it. If she's a pretty open girl i'd just ask her out, otherwise just talk to her and see where things lead. As for your friend... Whatever.

Yeah, you might want to be prepared for a few days of akwardness with him, but it should blow over if he's any sort of friend.

Well, for a customized answer, I'd need a little more info on your past interaction. Have you hung out? If so, how much? What's the nature of your current relationship?

If you just go up to her and say I LOVE YOU, that will be a little bit weird. Think of what you would do if some random girl walked up to you and said that. Then multiply that awkwardness by ten and you will have a good idea of how it would feel.
