Maybe he wanted to dance just to dance. For fucking fuck sake, that's possible as well. Just as a friend or something, you know. When you really like a girl, you notice every single detail about her, and what happens around her. I'm quite sure you would've noticed he had interest in her a long time ago if he likes her. Anyways, good luck i would agree that i notice everything around her, but i would have to disagree with your first point. I mean, he methodically and purposefully hit on her a lot of the evening, I don't think you do that to someone you just want to be friends with. To be sure, I need to see what happens in the coming days, to see if he follows through, or (unlikely) let it go as nothing.

hmmm talk to your friend about your situtation and if hes a good friend hell back off .. dont do anything to drastic and turn your friend to an enemy, its not worth it over a girl.
|
Well what if your friend has also liked her for a long time and he asks YOU to back off?

EDIT: CyuntiyuL beat me to it T_T but yes, that is the same thing I was saying. THe safest way, to sit tight and observe closely what happens? If he makes follows it up, shit. If he doesn't, great for me.

Okay serious advice...
who're you more attached to? is this just some minor attraction to the girl or do you actually feel something strong enough to risk losing your friend? think long and hard on that...also, is he a good enough friend to want to keep? if he's an asshole you can hit it if you want to, and if he goes then you haven't lost anything. but if he's a good guy, and you're not really really falling for this girl, then you have to wonder if it's really worth it...figure out which one is more important to you though.

Speak from the heart .
Whats worse? Sitting there and doing nothing, or sitting there and seeing other guys make a move?
Ask to take her to the movies/restaurant etc. As you want to talk to her about a few things .

Casper and EchoOfRain...i disagree, alot of girls are shy too, and they hardly make it obvious that they have interest in you, althought there is a chance that your correct, i highly doubt he's screwed yet. The shy ones subtlely show they are interested. For example she might emphasize the importance that you call her later. Or she say things like "im not doing anything this weekend, i wonder what im gonna do." I'm not saying shes like "oh i want your nuts by the way." Even the shyest of girls will give you some kind of sign.

long-term / friends-only / sex / not interested Yeah the 4 comes with age but I don't expect 16-year-old girl to have a sex-only relationship. If the girl is 19 she could be really interested in sex.

I have to know where I stand, that's the hardest part, really. Am I just a friend to her? Not in the 'possible boyfriends' that LastWish talked about? Or am I? God, I can't even tell. Should I just sit back and observer and see what happens? I've pretty much decided that the straight-up method is the wrong thing to do. I guess that I've gathered from this thread to be much more forward, like the advice from Brood to slowly work up to her towards asking her to do something that is just us two (and i've never asked a girl out on a date in my life); but you know, this will be so obvious and blatant, i'm pretty sure if i do that my friend will notice (if he's actually interested in her, i can't tell for sure, but i think he is) and will probably pull me over for a "hey man wtf is going on, wtf are you doing" talk.
So yeah, really, I'm not really sure what I should do. I've been convinced not to tell her "oh I'm crazy about you". I'm sort of for the waiting and seeing and starting to make my move. It's weird that you guys don't mention any time pressure; I'm feeling like I could lose her to my friend if he decides to chase after her if I don't act soon. Once they're established as 'together' there's really not much I could do (i can't make a move then cause you know, that isn't right) but sit back and "Brood" haha.
Here's what worked for me when I first asked a girl out when I was 15, since then I've gotten more used to it, and I'm not a complete reck when I do it.
You should figure out what your going to say, practice it (also make sure it isn't over the top). Then when you are asking her out think mostly about sandwiches or something... pay enough attention to respond to her properly, but pretend that you are a tacit omnicient observer. That way you don't get totally nervous.
|
But sitting and observing is the worse thing to do. Remember even failure is success.

Be happy if the girl likes you back. There are three types of people that find me attractive: crazy girls, fat girls, and gay men. Hopefully you will be much happier than I am.

I'd like to know how to do it properly since I'm planning to ask her to go to a coffee shop with me.

well you seem pretty nervous right?
so my suggestions so you don't screw it up is that you practice, and then mentally remove yourself from the situation (at least partially). This way you don't chicken out at the last minute or make a fool out of yourself because you are scared.
So think about something that is calming, and just let your mouth do the talking. Listen just enough to be able to respond to what she is saying. Let me know if you need any more clarification.

I think there is an issue you have to resolve before you try to make plans with the girl...
Like some ppl have said already...he's your god damn friend right? Well TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT!!! Seriously what are friends for?
This will let you know for sure how he feels about her, and what he plans on doing in the future if he does like her...
So here's the scenario... 1. You're gonna be a pussy about it...and since he likes her you're gonna not admit that you like her, and back off. 2. Confront him about it, tell him how you truely feel about her, and how long this has been going on for, and see what his reaction is...(you assume too much, if he's a true friend he will understand) so if he decides to back off for u, well then its good for you i guess. But on the otherhand if he doesn't, well then you have a problem, and your friendship will most likely give away to a few cracks.
You should have told your friends about this, so this kinda shit doesn't happen, if he knew that you liked her, and if he was a true friend, then he wouldnt go on hitting on her.
Note: In Korea we kinda have this rule where, you kinda tell your mates that you like a girl and kinda "stamp" her as yours...and in most cases every1 will back off cuz you've stated first that you like her. (this is a good rule, so shit like this coulda been prevented.)
|
ask her out, if you're too shy for it, then become friendly towards her closest friend/friends and her aswell, then start hanging around with her... but watch out, if you become a tood good friend, your relationship chances are lost forever
a few days ago i gave my number to a girl i like and said that she could call me if she had nothing to do, she called me today and we will go to a party together tonight :D I'm so happy..
