I've been looking to buy a mouse for a while now and most mice I find are built for FPS which would still work fine in Starcraft, but I'm wondering if there are any mouse that are built for RTS

I'm not the biggest fan of Razer but I would still buy one if I were to get enough recommendations. So if anyone could help me out by narrowing my choices it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. I use a claw grip so I don't really want a mouse that is a rock but I could get used to one that is.

I was gonna make a suggestion, but then I saw you use a claw grip.

I know Day[9] uses a claw grip and LOVED the new Razer SC2 mouse... but idk take it with a grain of salt.

pick any you feel comfortable with.

Many gamers use an 4-5 old Logitech Mouse, or the Microsoft Intelli. Others use Razer "High"end products etc.

It all comes down to you.

For Reference i use a Razer Salmosa.

Salmosa and Abyssus have a really good shape for RTS. It's all about vertical movement in RTS so shape is pretty important so when you make a vertical movement, the mouse won't be in the way making it tiresome in the long run. Similar shapes would be the Logitech mx300/g1/g3 and even the g9x, although it's a little heavy

i've noticed that a lot of starcraft players, myself included, use the razer salmosa. it's out of production now so it's tricky to find, but it's a great mouse, and very durable.

but of course, as long as the mouse is good quality, the rest is all personal preference.

Any mouse that works.. I thought about getting a really good mouse but then I realized that the mouse doesnt matter much. You controlling the mouse is what matters.. The basic black logitech mouse I think is the best in my opinion.. cheap and lasts long.

my god.

use what you like. there is absolutely no benefit between mouses, it only and ONLY depends on what YOU prefer to use.

I use a G5 since a long time and I like it but it just depens on yourself. some like a big mouse some like a small one, some prefer a heavy one etc... go into a shop and take them in the hand and then decide which one you want to buy.
after 2 years i reached it = marine icon

Very happy with my Logitech G9 configured at full weight with the scroll wheel locked. One thing to consider is that the 1.2 patch will allow us to map a mouse button to Push-To-Talk, so while for the most part any mouse will do, it can be handy to have at least one extra button besides the wheel.

but seriously no one can tell you what the best mouse is. you just have to try them out for yourself. something someone recommend could be a mouse that you would never want to use.

the best bet is to continue using whatever mouse you've been using, unless you have a problem with it

I've been meaning to buy a mouse for a while as well, even though I've had little time for SC2 as of late.

I played against a friend of mine recently who uses a cmstorm brand mouse. It felt extremely comfortable, has removable weights inside it, and adjustable sensitivity with buttons on the mouse. Plus, I believe it goes up to ~5600dpi so you're guaranteed to be safe for the next few years of OS'es that come out. Works well with most games including fps.

The only drawback was that the scroll wheel felt really cheap and delicate, as if I pressed too hard it would break. The mouse itself is priced at around $50, and personally I feel its far more comfortable than the Razer ones, and quite a bit cheaper.

Also, here's the pics:

I use a Razer Deathadder, it's very comfortable on the hand, durable, and tracks well.

Don't forget a good mousepad! The Steelseries qck mousepads go well with the Razer in my opinion:

I recently did a lot of research on a mouse and am extremely happy with my recent purchase, the Razer Abyssus.

I use claw grip so this mouse is awesome. Very low profile and has a great weight to it. Doesn't have auto correction and the laser is very accurate, with a good mouse pad (which is needed).

No excess buttons, just left, right, and scroll wheel. Has 3 dpi settings that can go to 3500 which is important for SC2 if you play on a high resolution.

I really can't find any flaws with this mouse, except for the top of it is made of some kind of material that feels really nice, but picks up every single fingerprint ever. This might bother some, but I couldn't care less. It is an excellent mouse for gaming and that is all that matters to me.

If you use claw grip you can't go wrong with the Abyssus.

Yeah the Death Adder is definitely my favorite mouse of all time. The only two draw backs for an RTS game is that its not as good as Razer's other mice if you prefer claw grip. As well as the fact that it is a Razer, which means it's guaranteed to break in 8-12 months if your a hardcore gamer, but in all honesty I keep buying them when they break (even keep a spare) because no mouse can compare with the ergonomic design as well as the relatively light weight compared to other palm grip mice, as recommended above you really need a good mat the get the best out of a Death Adder because the tactile surface of a high end mat will make your palm movements much more accurate as well as mitigate some of the weight factor.

I wish mods would start auto-banning anyone who makes mouse threads. There have been so many, any information a person would want to know is for sure in one of the threads.

Like, seriously: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/search.php?q=best mouse&t=ct&f=-1&u=&gb=date

OP, please use search next time.
I like the way the walls go out. Gives you an open feeling. Firefly's a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of things. Objects in space. People miss out on what's solid.

I use this mouse too but the one gripe I have with it is that dirt and dust stick to it like a motherfucker. I have to wipe off the glossy sides a lot and I also do wash my hands.

I use claw grip too and have been using Razor Lachesis for over a few years to play sc and it's been really great. It actually took me like 6 months to get used to its grip, but right now it feels like it's a part of my hand. I use the second lowest dpi setting for sc2 and am very happy with my settings.
