http://teamfortress.com/ Basically anyone who has TF2 can download the TF2 Beta its about 8.9 gigs and currect changes are 3 different variations of natascha. A new map cp_5Gorge basically a 5 CP version of Gorge and some other stuff is soon to come.
A while back they did a closed TF2 beta for high level competitive players (e.g. players in ESEA-Invite and CEVO-P) and thats where they got the idea for the Gloves of Running Urgently so with so many more players there are bound to be new great ideas coming out.

I wouldn't count on that.
Anyway: New 5cp gorge = meh, middle will be uncappeable until you push the other team back enough, which will be quite hard. Might be promising with some serious reworking of middle.
Natasha nerf is welcome, but -75 health or -40% damage are so ridiculously huge trade-offs. The spin-up time trade-off depends on the situation, the best of the 3.
The granary change might be nice, haven't played with it yet though.

Downloading, heading in wishing for the best.

Why would they add THREE variants of the most overpowered weapon in the game? It's the reason I HATE playing pub tf2, 90% of the unlocks are just plain unbalanced.

If you don't like TF2 pubbing you should check out competitive play. Its fairly easy to get into a pug for competitive play in fact the best way for newer players is to visit tf2lobby.net you register an account and you can basically play 6v6 in a competitive environment. Most of the players there are fairly okay and once you feel like you want to evolve past tf2lobby they have an irc channel for pugs that requires people to have a mic and mumble to play.

I don't understand how the beta takes 9 gigs. What the hell are they adding (besides a map or so and a few weapon tweaks) that they're DOUBLING my steam file?

Because it's probably not finished yet and not coded properly, therefore it's massive. The release version will most likely not be 9 gigs.

Are they just slapping on gigs and gigs of horse porn onto every download? There's no reason this download should be over 100 MB when I look at the blog post ~_~

9 Gigabyte is just the full game again. Since it is easier for them than adding support for having 2 full sets of configurations for the game, steam has the infrastructure to distribute the data, and most internet connections are fast enough to load it in a few hours at most.

They added the variants BECAUSE it's an overpowered weapon. It's BETA, the point is to TEST the options, hopefully resulting in a tweak for the natascha in the actual game.

I like how the "Competitive Play Forum" already totally failed its purpose.

I don't know what to say. Part of me is delighted that they're FINALLY doing something about that annoying pos minigun, and the other part of me feels like a starving man to who Valve is offering a single M&M.
I'm okay with Valve lowering the skill floor, but I just fucking wished that they could do it without annoying crap like slow downs, and turning the spy from a class that took some serious cunning to something that a retarded child could play effectively.
