Congratulations to the bronze medal
- Thank you very much
You are the reigning champion of World Cyber Games, how does this event feel if you compare this event from the last one?
- To be honest I do not feel very happy about it since last year I won the gold medal and this year I only won the bronze medal. If it were the other way around I would feel happy but now I can't. This year I felt that it would be a fight amongst the Koreans for the gold and I was right, I lost the gold to Team Korea and it is mixed feelings.
Team Korea has once again shown that there is a major gap between the Koreans and the non Korean players; do you ever get worried playing versus the non Koreans?
- I do not get very worried playing the non Koreans since I adapt my playing style during the games and I easily feel the skill level of my opponent, if they are good, bad or mediocre.
How was your mindset prior yesterdays semi final against FlaSh?
- This is my third World Cyber Games and the third time I face FlaSh lately. I really felt that I had a large chance to win since I got more experience but unfortunately it did not go as planned and I felt a bit sad about that.
The last time you faced FlaSh prior World Cyber Games you went four pool, yesterday when you faced him in the semi final you did not, what made you change your tactics?
- Last time I did it I lost, my fans went bananas. They were very angry and swore against me. That is the main reason I did not go four pool in the semi final against FlaSh.
FlaSh promised us five more years – could you promise us the same?
- FlaSh is three years younger then me so I will be too old if I continue to play for another five years. I will however try to be in the scene for as long as possible.
Have you ever had any interest in other eSport games and do you play anything else besides Starcraft: Brood War, such as Counter-strike, Quake or WC3 for example?
- I play Counter-Strike and that is the only game I like to follow. I do not like Warcraft III though.
Do you know of any Counter-Strike teams outside of Korea; fnatic for example?
- I am a Korean so my favorite team is WeMade FOX but I also like SK and fnatic.
How do you see the future of StarCraft: BroodWar and will you change to StarCraft 2?
- I will definitely change to StarCraft II as I feel that StarCraft 2 is having a higher status then StarCraft: Broodwar. We will see more international tournaments in SC2 compared to StarCraft: Broodwar and this will make the change natural for me. I want to build my reputation abroad and reach out to the international audience but when I decide to change game I can not say, it can be today, it can be tomorrow it can be in a couple of years.
Thank you very much for the Interview and once again, congratulations to the bronze medal!
