Fixed an issue where queuing Return Cargo on a worker would cause it to ignore the built-in delay after it finished gathering.
I didn't see a thread specifically on this change of the 1.1.1 patch yet.
Personally, I think this is a horrible move by Blizzard. Historically, there were a lot of glitches in games that were never intended, yet turned out to be great to increase the possible skill gap between amateur and pro. Just take strafe jumping in Quake 3 / Quake Live or the mineral glitching in StarCraft BroodWar.
Fixing this glitch did nothing but make the game more noob-friendly. Instead of embracing unintended mechanics, they seem to be total control freaks. This was already pointed out when they fixed fazzing and it's a really sad development.

Sockfolding was not a good way to add skill to the game. This is agreed upon by the majority of top players.

I think there isn't one because there's no need to create a specific thread for this. It was a bug and it was fixed.

i don't think sockfolding is an awesome glitch, that increases the skillgap.. it's just about spamming. no skill or timing involved at all. i'm glad they fixed it, it puts more focus on more important parts of the game.

There is a thread about the patch already. Dont think we need a thread for every single feature. I guess someones going to make a thread to discuss the replay stutter fix atm
on topic:
I tried the mineral boosting trick and to be honest, everyone could learn it very fast and use it in early game BUT I love the fact it got fixed. With everyone doing it, it wouldnt make any sense at all. As somebody mentioned before, it requires NO skill and is not exiting for the audience in any way.
and this of course:

Terran would do this with one or two units and still has a bigger advantage as Z or P doing it with every single worker

RIP sockfolding

Well, to be honest it wasn't beneficial to esports anyway as the spectators would never of seen the difference.

It was pointless. The 7% increase only exists when the opposition isn't using the trick. With two pros both doing it the gain would be APM dependent and extremely minimal (~1-2%). It's better if they just spam however they want to spam.

Couldn't agree more. Let's get stacked mutas back :D

I really hate the term "sockfolding" every time i get the same mental picture of me folding laundry, just abit annoying
Also, i am glad it's gone, it was useless, and it didnt require skill. It was just about pressing buttons really fast and had nothing at all to do with strategy, so it obviously didnt belong in a strategy game.

Well I guess this is a bad thing, but honestly people shouldn't make a huge deal out of this. Afterall only a small thing like peon/peasant micro in wc3.

Mutas stack pretty well now, but with how tight units stack now, and thors having AOE, it's often not good to do anymore unless harassing probes or buildings.

Agree, people really have been coming up with terrible names for new ideas.

Uhhh what? you never see probes making so that's not really beneficial right? The 7% increase can help get an extra pair of zerglings out that can change the whole game, just like many of the GSL games where a win or loss was hanging on my a string. Simply because a spectator can't see it doesn't mean it's useless, they might not see it but it will impact what they see in the other parts of the game. I really think your statement was just bad, I'm sorry to say it, pardon me mods for saying it in such a blunt manner.

It's about giving credit to the one who has found the 'glitch'.
So obviously, don't like it? Don't call it sockfolding.
Like it? Call it sockfolding.
Don't be 'buttcheek' about it.

Sockfolder was the guy who came up with the idea originally, hence the name sockfolding.
Sure, it wasn't beneficial to e-sports or anything and it wasn't any astounding, but it wasn't detrimental nor did it give the player a giant boost. I don't really see the need to get rid of sockfolding.

It gave a pretty big boost to terrans.

Can't say i'm sad to see it go. One less thing to worry about. Granted, it isn't something you would see in lower level play, no doubt it would of EVENTUALLY become standard. I'm sure even the pro players are glad since it seems pretty monotonous.
Edit: Wow, this thread sure derailed fast. Who gives a shit what it's called? It's no longer in the game. The only reason people call it mineral-boosting (and the title of that other thread was changed to say this) is because mineral-boosting is self-explanatory. Sockfolding means nothing to many poeple.

RIP mineral boosting, ah well.
I felt it was pretty "ugly" compared to bw moveshot, muta stacking or even magic box, so in that sense I'm not bummed its gone. However, it is very telling that we are grasping for these small high level techniques. I hope some nice ones are discovered(or added?) that arent deemed bugs and are more elegant.
