Why do they think g1 was such high level from both players?
+ Show Spoiler +
You can actually tell if the twillight council is researching something or not. Chrono boosting an building which isn't doing anything can be easily spotted by anyone. It relys on thinking your opponent isn't smart enough to figure that much out.
It would have been better to research it and then cancel it, not that he had the money to do so, but that was just painful to watch and I didn't like the commentators during that match at all.

Well, with the Twilight Council it's pretty hard to tell between researching and not researching iirc.

Unfortunately for Kiwi, Lair is a pretty good response to both blink and DT, so it didn't change IdrA's decisionmaking much at all I think.

Well even if he didnt see it. He had a good lingforce and scouted very few sentrys or stalkers. There should have been more units if it was a push. He also didnt have the stalker count to be able to deny the overlord (which any blinking player would have done. He either knew it or he read the DT's perfectly.

You CAN tell if Twilight is researching something but if you go ingame and look at the animation difference it is so miniscule (literally the two little pieces in the front levitate a bit) that the chrono boost is the bigger giveaway. But IdrA saw that he didn't have enough stalkers so he assumed DTs, a good read by IdrA and a move by Kiwi that would have worked on a lesser player

Well the thing is pro gamers usually don't stare at buildings long enough to find out if the chrono was aplied on a build with or without research. At that time Idra had 2 bases, so he was upgrading tech, building army/workers, spreading creep, spawning larva with queen, positioning his army, seting ralling points, etc.. So basically players usually just look at the scouting overloard for a split second. You can see this well when you watch live streams since its always first person view. So the chrono definitely tricked Idra. His response was to pump a lot of lings. But he keeped scouting the front, and didn't see stalkers (there where just a couple out). So thats when he decided to make an overseer. Still, by the time the dts got to Idras base he had tons of lings as if he was expecting to fight an army, not just a couple dts.

Now on to the other games:

I think Mondragon made a large contribution to ZvP in his games in TSL. Apparently the casters either never saw those games or simply didn't make the connection. But in game 2 that heavy multi front attack reminded me very much of Mondragons playstyle with all the drops and rouch borrow movement. Also in game 3, going ling/roachs to counter air play, thats pure Mondragon. Idra usually disregards diferent play styles of other zerd plays. But from time to time, he sees something he likes and than he goes on to incorporate some of the key points of those styles in his strategy. Its also fun to mention that in game 3 Idra completilly cut drone production in favor of units, July zerg style! Its good to see Idra is adapting and learning from other players. That only makes his style less predictible and even more fun to watch!

About G2.
+ Show Spoiler +
I don't want to take too much away from IdrA's play, but I feel like KiWiKaKi really fucked up that game. He was totally out of position which cost him his 3rd plus an Immortal, a Colossus and nearly two additional Colossi. I don't even think he had an Observer over IdrA's army. Moments after that he loses almost 30 probes to two small Roach drops and a runby. I mean, IdrA really picked him apart with the simultaneous drops, but KiWi's response to them was just terrible.

Half way into game 1, HD is not bad so far. Ive always said that when hes true to him self and just calls the game as is hes fine. Its when he tries to be funny and cute when he really gets annoying.

Moon was doing the drops at IEM (though with hydras instead of roaches) and burrow is one of the best ways to deal with the mass sentry style of recent protoss. Pretty sure IdrA does those things independently of what mondragon was doing in TSL. Game three was a cool response to the voidray, like day9 says, when people are doing cutesy tech they just don't have much millitary, so you can just go fucking kill your opponent.

Amazing amazing interview.

Has a couple typos but it's really interesting, and somewhat deep into his personal history. I like that a lot.

Thank you

Yes. Lol.

Anyways, a really cool quote from the interview at http://steelseries.com/gaming/teams/evil-geniuses/player-interviews/1on1-with-idra

- It's pretty awesome [that he has such a huge fanbase], and one of the bigger benefits to that, is that my personality is actually out there. So the fans, they are not just fans of my play or fans of some public image, they are fans of me. It's much bigger than just having fans, and more meaningful to me.
